Nile Party fires campaign manager for doing his job

We at FDB more than amused that the bigots at the CDP have sacked their campaign manager for doing precisely what Fred Nile himself has done for years- vilifying Muslims.

This is not to say that the anti-Muslim ’survey’ was the smartest political stunt to pull- you’d have thought that Nile & CDP would have caught a clue that this wasn’t a vote-getter after the vitriolic public response to the fake Muslim leaflet affair run on behalf of Liberal candidate Karen Chijoff in 2007. But noooooo…

Nile scapegoat calls in lawyers

The Bradfield byelection in December did not go well for the Christian Democratic Party, thanks largely to criticism of its anti-Muslim “survey” and its tactic of running nine candidates for the seat. The man the party blamed for its bad press was its then campaign manager, Michael Darby, who it claimed issued the survey without the party authorisation and who has since lost his job. Now, following a meeting on Saturday, the president, Fred Nile, says the party has learned from the experience. Yesterday his office issued a press release declaring that the meeting ”rejected any future attempt to have multiple CDP candidates in the one electorate, or any further ‘push poll surveys”’.

Racist BNP’s Nick Griffin: Welcome Pauline!

If Pauline Hanson really is looking for a quieter lifestyle, this is the sort of welcoming party she could do without.

From the SMH:

British far-right leader welcomes Hanson
PAOLA TOTARO HERALD CORRESPONDENT
February 17, 2010

THE leader of the British National Party has declared that Pauline Hanson would not be regarded as an ”immigrant sponger” if she moved to Britain, and if she wished to play a political role she would be ”very welcome”.

But the BNP leader, Nick Griffin, warned that Ms Hanson should choose carefully where she makes her home, as Britain has become one of the ”most overcrowded” nations in the world, thanks to the Labour Party’s decision to admit ”3 million spongers”. He told the Herald that more than 100,000 ”indigenous” Londoners had fled the British capital every year over the past two decades, driven out by immigration.

”It has been a relentless flow because they can’t stand living there and feeling like foreigners in their own city. I’d recommend she stay away from inner London and go off and find somewhere that is recognisably still British. Any of the smaller towns or the country, places you know you are in Britain and are not the Third World yet,” he said.

”I feel very sorry for her … that she has been forced out of her country by this politically correct intimidation and bullying … she would not be a sponger. We would regard her as a good addition.”

‘Klub Naziya’ evicted from Humanist House

As you’ll recall, Humanist House has been hiring out its Chippendale meeting hall to a racist/fascist group known as ‘Klub Naziya’ or alternatively, ‘Public Information Forum’ (PIF). This practise was not rapidly addressed by the leadership of the NSW Humanists, continuing for approximately 8 years. This apparent support of this repugnant mob attracted protests from anti-fascists/racists in the community, independent of any involvement with FDB.

However, the PIF group was comprised of a number of neo-nazis who were well-known to FDB. The PIF group’s fascist expressions could not possibly have been more divergent from the tenets of the NSW Humanists. Thus, FDB offered our information resources to assist the Humanists with ridding the ranks of rats.

The result? Rat-free ranks.

The President of the NSW Humanists, John August, writes:

Final statement by John August, President Humanist Society of NSW, regarding Humanist House and the PIF

There’s been controversy around [meeting hall] hiring practices at Humanist House. We’ve recently had a Special General Meeting to give control of day to day operations of the Society to the Executive. It was a very difficult meeting, and I thank everyone who turned up and supported the resolutions, and I particularly thank those members who helped with meeting process.

A recent meeting of the executive has terminated the hiring of Humanist Hall by the Public Information Forum.

CDP in Islamic vilification scandal

From the SMH:

Obscene anti-Muslim emails put Nile on the defensive
SEAN NICHOLLS
November 21, 2009

ABUSIVE emails written by the son of the campaign manager of the Christian Democratic Party containing anti-Muslim and homophobic comments have embarrassed the party’s president, the Reverend Fred Nile, only two weeks before the December 5 Bradfield byelection, in which the party will field nine candidates.

Mr Nile has been forced to apologise to dozens of recipients of the emails, which also attack the Reverend Gordon Moyes, the CDP-turned-Family-First MP in the NSW upper house. Their author, Douglas Darby, the son of the former Liberal identity Michael Darby, who is the CDP’s campaign manager, has been expelled from the party.

In one email Douglas Darby attacks a Muslim activist, Mal Mac Rae, as a ‘’stupid moslem c—” and says ”muslim scum are too busy stacking ALP branches and raping Aussie chicks”.

In another, Douglas Darby suggests Muslims ”who habitually engage in child molestation, incest, pack rape … obey the laws of this country or f— off to Afghanistan where Australians are allowed to shoot you people”.

Yet another urges Mr Mac Rae to become a suicide bomber. ”Please do it inside either a Sunni or Shiite mosque.”

Teh gr8 wyt upryzin!!!1! -or- bigot mathematics

Nazis can't count (or don't count?)

Pictured at Martin Place last Monday is Darrin Hodges’ grate and suckcessful Australian Protectionist Party anti-immigration protest, kickin’ ass & taking names for the white race, wall-to-wall and treetop tall.

If you can’t read the signs, they say ‘DEPORT RUDD WE’RE FULL,’ as though ‘Fuck Off We’re Full’ were somehow not such a good campaign slogan or something.

How many xenophobes did Dazza rile up enough to fully take over the square?

10.

Which Dazza thinks is 20.

Makes you wonder why we bother, donit?

Even we are embarrassed for Daz.

Well, through the magick of our mighty FDB keyboard-fu, here’s a real friggin’ uprising of the oppressed white people!

The bigots are revolting! oh noes!

Don’t say we never did nuthin for ya, Darrin.

Facebook finally enforces own anti-hate ToS provisions. Kinda.

Under heavy pressure as a result of the publication of Joshua Hoey’s story “Groups rile against ‘Hatebook’” in the Brisbane Times, after months and months of users reporting the group, Facebook finally saw fit to enforce the anti-race-hate provisions in their Terms of Service agreement against Darrin Hodges’ ‘Fuck Off We’re Full.’ FOWF was unceremoniously deleted by Facebook at about 2.00pm on 17 November.

A few hours later, dazzling Dazza had reconstituted the hate group. True to past form, Facebook are not responding to ToS reports made on the new FOWF group.

Dear Facebook, if you’re going to have anti-race-hate provisions in your ToS, enforce them. If you’re going to have a ‘Report Group’ facility, respond to complaints made via that mode. Anything less is disingenuous window-dressing. It should not take national media attention to get Facebook to comply with their very own rules.

In a desperate attempt to prevent FOWF v3.0 from being deleted, Dazza has written tuff tuff tuff new rules for FOWFers:

Darrin Hodges (Australia) wrote:

1. No racial epithets to be used at all.
2. Keep swearing to a minimum, don’t post something where every second word is ‘fuck’ or ‘cunt’.
3. Keep replies sensible, refrain from attacking other group members.
4. Do not bring brawls from other groups into this one.
5. Promotion of ideologies antithetical to the Australian way of life will not be tolerated.
6. Trolls and sock-puppets will be removed on sight.
The list will be updated as required. You will receive one warning (trolls however will be shot on sight), the second time you will be gone. Please try to adhere to the guidelines and we’ll (re)build up a good group as a result.

FDB are most amused. Keep swearing to a minimum in a group called Fuck Off We’re Full? No racial epithets in a group solely dedicated to defaming ethnic and religious minorities? No sockpuppets in a group administered by Dazza and his sockpuppet ‘David Johns‘?

No matter what shade of lipstick Hodges puts on his FOWF bigotry, it’s still a pig.

The kids learnt their lesson- will the adults?

The publication earlier this week of photographs of Auckland Grammar schoolboys bowing before a swastika flag led to the boys involved having to make an apology to the Auckland War Memorial Museum and WWII veterans.

One wonders if right-wing extremists New Zealand National Front will be making similar apologies? Since 2004 the group has been holding its’ annual rally on or near the Cenotaph in Wellington.

Every year members of the group have sported swastika tattoos, nazi insignia on clothing and even performed nazi salutes. Unlike the aforementioned schoolboys, such antics are more likely a sign of their political leanings rather than a misguided “joke”.

Former NF Secretary Kerry Bolton claimed in the Dominion Post on 6 July 2009 that he had left the NF in 2004 due to the “neo-Nazi, racist element”. Whilst he was NF Secretary, he always denied members of the NF held such views. Bolton still regularly attends the annual NF rally.

Will they apologise?

Auckland Grammar students apologise for nazi worship antics

From stuff.co.nz:

Nazi photo schoolboys apologise to war veterans
By MICHAEL FOX - Stuff.co.nz
20/10/2009

Five Auckland schoolboys who made a tearful apology to war veterans for worshipping Nazi symbols will now teach museum visitors about the horrors of the Nazi regime.

The five students caused outrage when they kissed a swastika, bowed before a Nazi banner and gave a Nazi salute during an Auckland Grammar School visit to the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Pictures of the students which appeared on social networking website Facebook deeply upset museum staff and war veterans.

Today the five students and three school staff went back to the museum, where each student apologised to two war veterans and museum staff.

The two veterans had met the boys on an earlier trip before they paid homage to the Nazi symbols.

Today’s meeting was a “very emotional, full-on and quite an intense experience for the boys”, said Russell Briggs, the museum’s director of communications and technology.

“There were tears in the eyes and it was very emotional. The boys expressed a great deal of sorrow and apologised directly to the veterans for their actions.”

So, why are blackface theatrics racially offensive?

As FDB’s resident American, albeit a ‘recovering American’ with some relative sobriety due my 13 years of residency in (and now citizenship of) Australia, I can understand to some degree why many Australians could not see the racial offence in the Hey Hey It’s Saturday blackface skit.

However, denying that the skit was offensive can not rely on any sort of excuse that such an offence can not occur in Australia. There’s certainly people present in Australia who reasonably can be offended by such a skit, starting with Harry Connick, Jr.  I do confess to harbouring some cynical suspicions that the Hey Hey producers needed some outrage for the benefit of ratings- and Harry was a handy person to have around to be outraged.

If there’s any viable excuse for not understanding why the skit was offensive, it could be due to the fact that many Australians may be ignorant of the use of demeaning, stereotypical blackfaced characters in popular entertainment for many decades. Bear in mind that ignorance of why something is racially offensive doesn’t make it any less offensive nor excuse the offence.

The primary reason why Harry Connick Jr, a New Orleans native, took offence at the Hey Hey skit is in part because he’s very well aware of the history of the use of blackface to stereotype and demean Africans in a predominantly Anglo culture. Mind you, simple commonsense should tell you, even if you’re utterly devoid of any knowledge of the history of blackface theatre, that making-up yourself to look like a certain ethnic person and then acting like a buffoon is highly likely to be offensive to the depicted ethnicity (and I’m talking to you too, Borat). Aside from his knowledge of the history of blackface stereotypes, the commonsense explanation is in no small part why Harry took offense at the Hey Hey skit.

Blackface in theatre has been around for a long, long time- since the 1830s, in fact. The blackface tradition was carried forth into motion pictures as they became a popular entertainment form. Typically, a white actor in blackface makeup was dressed in ‘dandy’ attire, though often tattered and second-hand to indicate the low socioeconomic status of the black person being portrayed. Blackfaced characters also commonly employed mispronunciations and malapropisms to reinforce the popular racist stereotype that blacks were stupid and unable to be educated, but attempted to act ‘above their station’ or be ‘uppity,’ inclusive of the character wearing garish garb which they mistakenly consider to be stylish. As the early 20th century wore on, actual black actors appeared in film and theatre- in blackface makeup which emphasised the eyes and lips. A comprehensive history of blackface and the common stereotype characters can be found on Black-face.com.

Blackface theatre portrayed and propagated stereotypes of African-Americans so pervasively that black actors couldn’t get work in early 20th century film unless they themselves played the stereotypes…

Hattie McDaniel in
‘Gone With The Wind”

Bert Williams

Billie Thomas as
“Buckwheat” in
‘The Little Rascals’

Blackface stereotype characters carried forth even into television programs of the 1970s, inclusive of Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, Good Times, What’s Happening and Diff’rent Strokes. Black actors playing roles which more resemble real people is really a rather recent innovation in popular culture and entertainment.

A lot of Australian commenters on news items regarding the Hey Hey skit who claim to not recognise the offence try to lever the excuse that the ‘Jackson Jive’ troupe were merely spoofing the Jackson Five, not blackfolk in general. However, the ‘Jackson Jive’ troupe…

much more closely resemble the blackface ‘uppity coon’ minstrel characters who sing the old ‘negro’ song ‘Camptown Races‘ in the 1942 Warner Brothers Bugs Bunny cartoon short Fresh Hare

than they do the Jackson Five:

The Hey Hey skit actors, who have since apologised, claim not to have intended offence. While the lack of intent to offend may be true, the players simply didn’t think this one through. The skit would have been just as offensive in 1989- the only difference being that 20 years ago, no-one in Australia was brave enough to stand up and say so. The 2009 version of the skit was also undeniably racially offensive. That it was even considered for repetition was fully thoughtless, on the part of the Hey Hey producers and the skit actors as well.

Harry Connick Jr should be highly commended for the bravery to stand up to the Hey Hey producers and audience and call this skit out for what it was- racist rubbish.

Neo-nazi luvfest “Sydney Forum” at Petersham RSL

We know what you’re thinking.

You woke up this morning, looked in the mirror and said “Self, there’s just not enough crazy in my life. I really need to know more about the ‘Holohoax,’ Muslims taking over Australia, how to properly suggest holding guns to the heads of Indian students yet pass it off as mere free speech instead of unlawful racial vilification, and what the troof about 9/11 really is.”

No wucking furries, mate! For all your racism, conspiracy theory and general nutty nonsense needs, all you need to do is to drop in on Jim Saleam’s Sydney Forum for a good ol’ sieg heilin’ time.
