Holocaust Denial? Why it’s unladylike!

In the wake of the the arrest of Holocaust denier Fredrich Toben, Queensland bogan ‘Michelle Mainwaring’, aka ‘Lady Michele Renouf’, has decided to adopt yet another worthless nazi to add to her list of embarrassing causes. ‘Lady’ Renouf’s previous claims to fame include bluffing her way into the aristocracy, and her shameful defence of convicted Nazi apologists David Irving and Ernst Zundel.

Your Excellency,

As you will be aware the British police and Crown Prosecution   Service have executed a Mannheim-originating warrant on an   Australian national, the historian Dr. Fredrick Töben, who was   arrested onboard an aeroplane at Heathrow while simply in transit   from the USA to Dubai.
Even as he had no intention of entering Britain, he was seized off   the aeroplane and brought into this country where his alleged crimes do not even constitute an offence.

For the first time, therefore, the European Arrest Warrant is being used in a manner that we in Britain were assured would not be applied in Britain, which has declined to adopt a “Holocaust denial” law, because it is contrary to British traditions of freedom of enquiry and expression.

Sports ground to continue using racist term

‘Racist’ term to stay part of ground

A SPORTS ground in Queensland’s southeast will continue to use a racist term to honour the city’s first international rugby league player.

Toowoomba Sports Ground Trust chairman John McDonald said that while the grandstand bearing his name was to be demolished in coming days as part of an upgrade, E.S. “Nigger” Brown would continue to be honoured with that nickname.

Mr McDonald said the “N” word would likely be retained on a statue of Brown or a plaque recognising his deeds.

Edward Stanley Brown, who also served as a Toowoomba councillor, was of Anglo-Saxon descent.

Mr McDonald and others say he was nicknamed “Nigger” because of his fair complexion or after a brand of shoe polish.

The Queensland Government is contributing $2.15m to the ground’s upgrade, and Acting Premier Paul Lucas today said he wouldn’t expect the name to be retained.

“That sort of name is something that happened in the past,” Mr Lucas said on the Gold Coast.

“I don’t think there is any suggestion that the stand will be renamed in that fashion now.

“That is something you’d have to ask the Toowoomba Rugby League, but we don’t really name stands in that manner these days.”

Toowoomba academic Stephen Hagan, who has campaigned against the name for almost a decade and took his case to the UN, said retaining the term in any future tribute would amount to inciting racism.

Mr Hagan labelled Mr McDonald a “dinosaur” and “an embarrassment to rugby league”.

“In the NRL (National Rugby League) if you call someone a nigger on the playing field you can get a $10,000 fine or six weeks’ suspension,” he said.

“There’s no ambiguity in the rugby league circles.”

The Queensland Greens have also taken issue with the name, calling on Premier Anna Bligh to stop it being retained on any part of the ground.

Spokeswoman Libby Connors said it was an opportunity for Ms Bligh to show her commitment to social justice.

“No one opposing the sign has ever said that Toowoomba’s great footballer Edward Brown should not continue to be acclaimed and recognised,” Dr Connors said.

“John McDonald’s persistence in using this old local nickname from the days of the White Australia Policy is grossly insensitive to today’s generations especially given the outstanding contribution of indigenous footballers around the country and locally.”

In 2002, Mr Hagan took the issue to the UN, whose Committee on the Elimination of Racism condemned the sign and recommended its removal.

Then federal attorney-general Daryl Williams declined to act on the UN ruling.

Muslim Massacre

From the Department of I-Want-A-Fatwa-And-I-Want-One-Now! comes this story about a game called ‘Muslim Massacre’, designed by some bloke from Brisbane.

Oops.

Said designer has since thought better of his game, taken it down, and issued an apology:

I would like to make a public apology for any offense that I might have caused through releasing this game, and to Muslims in particular. My intentions when releasing this project were to mock the foreign policy of the United States and the commonly held belief in the United States that Muslims are a hostile people to be held with suspicion. I would like to make it clear that I have never shared such a belief and my intention was to mock those who actually do believe these things.

It quickly became obvious to me that releasing this game did not achieve its intended effect and instead only caused hurt to hospitable, innocent people. I believe removing this game and website will do much more to attain my desired effect than leaving it on the internet, so I am doing just that.

I would like to ask for the forgiveness of Muslims around the world and to make it clear that I did not release this game with ill intent. So without further ado, I would like to say that I am truly apologetic for what I have done and will take full responsibility for all offense that has been caused. I can only hope that any further misgivings can be laid to rest.

Thankfully for angry Aryans everywhere, Martin Fletcher of Downunder Newslinks (”Australian news for White people”) has saved the game from oblivion by making a copy of it available to all and sundry on his own rather, er… “cranky” website. Martin himself is a former devotee of James Saleam, but is currently associated with the Australian Protectionist Party, whose disco forum he co-admins with failed Sutherland Shire candidate Darrin Hodges. Anti-Muslim computer game stirs wave of anger

A COMPUTER game designed by a Brisbane man has caused Muslim anger around the world because it invites players to wipe out the followers of Islam.

Queensland police have launched an investigation into the game Muslim Massacre, which can be downloaded for free online.

Players take control of an American “hero”, are given “an arsenal of the world’s most destructive weapons” and are tasked with killing as many Muslims as possible, ranging from terrorists and civilians to Osama bin Laden, even the prophet Mohammed and Allah.

Britain’s Ramadhan Foundation wants the game banned.

“This game is glorifying the killing of Muslims in the Middle East and we urge internet providers to take action to remove this site from their services,” foundation chief Mohammed Shafiq said.

“This is not satire but a deliberate attempt to demonise Muslims.”

The game was created by freelance programmer Eric Vaughan, 22, who calls himself “Sigvatr” on his online blog.

Mr Vaughan, who works at a petrol station in East Brisbane, refused to comment when contacted by The Courier-Mail yesterday.

On his blog, he describes the game as “fun and funny” and says to his critics: “The Muslims represented in the game aren’t meant to be based on actual Muslims.”

“Sigvatr” announced the creation of his game on the Something Awful forum, Play the beta of my game, Muslim Massacre on June 24, 2008.

Islamic Council of Queensland president Suliman Sabdia urged Police Minister Judy Spence to shut down the site.

“This is the sort of game which creates hysteria,” he said.

“It could lead on to other things if it goes unchecked.”

Ms Spence said she was concerned. “I am aware that the contents of this particular website have been brought to the attention of police, who are making an assessment as to whether it breaches any legislation,” she said.

AN interstate tourist disgusted by a Cairns taxi driver’s racist rant has called for a mandatory training program to stamp out “redneck” intolerance in the service industry.

Interstate visitor Andrew (who asked that his surname not be used) said he was surprised anyone would want to visit Cairns after the conversation he had with a taxi driver who picked him up at the airport yesterday.

Black and White Taxis fleet manager Chris White said all drivers signed the company’s anti-discrimination policy and received training when gaining their taxi licence.

The story, entitled Brough Justice, is a profile of the former federal politician turned leader of the Queensland Liberal Party.

In it, journalist Matthew Fynes-Clinton reveals that during an interview at Brough’s home, he and his son, James, aged 17, break into a mock, impromptu performance of Aboriginal song and dance, which she describes as â€œjarringâ€?.

Numbers can be fun!

An ever-present sideshow within the Australian far-right circus is the presence of a teenager from Queensland with some very strange ideas about the ways of the world.

At FDB, we have determined that while he is somewhat delusional, the risk he poses to anyone besides himself is nil. He’s just a bit annoying.

The fash disagree, and we note a recent discussion amongst several Queensland fascists to the effect that now that this young chap is 19, it would be appropriate for him to be violently assaulted. We didn’t do no university maths or nothing, but seeing as he was 15 years old last year, it’s quite likely that the oldest he could possibly be now was 16.

Carl Thompson suggested that “some re-education at the Dr Martin school of political education” would be appropriate. While this comment is more telling of Thompson’s character than anything else, we feel that it is perhaps old Sluggo who needs to go back to school.

We’ll get you started, Carl. If you had 7 bullets in the clip and you fired three into the television screen because you accidentally switched on to Lateline, how many bullets do you have left?

Dr Helen Caldicott addresses far-right at Inverell Forum

Oh dear.

The Forum that was considered too kooky and racist even for Pauline Hanson (see below) is apparently considered a thoroughly worthwhile event by others. Thus it is that Helen Caldicott, known as an anti-nuclear activist, has this weekend lent her name to the Inverell Forum — along with the Sydney Forum, one of the two main annual gatherings of the far right in Australia.

Other speakers at this year’s Forum, in addition to the usual assortment of conspiracy theorists, opponents of Big Gub’mint, and advocates of alternative medical practices, included Greg Clancy — who denounced the multicultural menace — and an anxious Anglo-Saxon named Andrew Fraser (who also spoke at the 2006 Forum).

Oddly enough, last year’s Inverell Forum was to feature Pauline Hanson, but she withdrew after being informed she was to share a platform with a neo-Nazi, Welf Herfurth. Herfurth spoke on the subject of the German NPD, of which he was once a member. (Herfurth also spoke at the 2003 Forum on the same topic.)

This year, the political organisation for which Herfurth is the local fueher, the New Right/National Anarchists, held a stall at the Forum.

In 2007, Herfurth was joined by Richard Krege, another Holocaust denialist, who spoke of his experience (in the company of Frederick Toben, currently the subject of legal proceedings) at the infamous conference in Tehran on the subject of the Holocaust. Krege, an engineer, maintains that only 5,000 people died at the death camp at Treblinka, of disease, rather than the 800,000 historians estimate.

In 2006, in addition to Fraser, the Inverell Forum featured convicted criminal Dr James Saleam, who spoke in praise of what he and his white supremacist party, Australia First, terms the ‘Cronulla uprising’.

Still, Caldicott is also going to Sydney to address the 911TruthNow conference, where on March 14 she’ll be speaking on the subject of the use of depleted uranium in weapons, in the Middle East in particular, where millions have served as unwilling guinea pigs in US military experiments. Speaking of which, last year’s Sydney Forum featured a Palestinian speaker, Rihab Charida. She spoke on the subject of Palestine. However, she notes that:

I was not asked to speak at this event by the organisers. Three days prior to the event, a friend who was scheduled to speak asked if I could replace him, as he had other commitments. Stupidly, I agreed without investigating who the Sydney Forum was organised by and for. Therefore, I prepared my talk as a standard presentation about Palestine and went to deliver it with no understanding of the purpose of the Forum…

[Tomislav Sunic's] talk had my friends and myself feeling sick. We realised that we were surrounded by fascists and rednecks. Even then, I didnâ€™t click that the entire event was held for white supremacists. I thought that maybe this was a forum attracting different people (right leaning), including rednecks. Obviously, I now realise it is a forum organised exclusively by and for white supremacists.

To all but the most naive, the function of inviting speakers such as Helen Caldicott and Rihab Charida to address such events as the Inverell and Sydney Forums is to lend them an air of credibility, and to allow their organisers to claim that such events go ‘beyond left and right’ and aren’t the gatherings of the rural and urban-based far right, composed of the kinds of audiences who remark — in reference to Rihab — that ‘She would have been of much better use as a mud flap for my car’. That, and the remnants of an older generation of right-wing letter-writers, precisely the kind who found a home in One Nation.

Dr Helen Caldicott enjoyed mainstream media respect from about the mid-’80s until it became obvious her nuclear devastation fantasies were never going to come true, some time around, oh, 1989. Thereafter she’s largely been limited to the ABC and similarly inclined outlets.

Lately things have become even worse. Next month lefty Helen - one of our new cultural overlords, remember - is listed to speak at a Sydney meeting of the global 9/11 truth movement, which holds that the events of September 11 2001 were somehow faked or the result of a conspiracy led by the US Government.

In the universe of modern crazy, your truthers are at the top of the list. Where normal people see footage of massive jets piling into the World Trade Centre towers, truthers see all manner of clues hinting at unmanned aircraft, substitute flights (where did the passengers go?) and controlled demolition.

Even noted engineering and physics scholars are sometimes drawn in by truther theories on building collapse. Willie Nelson, for example.

So Caldicott, if not actually signing on to the truther fable - and we’re yet to see her speech; she may well do - is at least prepared to lend this group whatever credibility she has left after warning us for decades that all nuclear plants are as unreliable and prone to Aeroflot-style commie bungling as Chernobyl. It’d be sad, except for the fact that Caldicott is possibly the only person on earth whose support might detract from the truther cause.

Get used to it, people. The war is over. We now live in a Helmichael Caldinig country. Say sorry to your atomic duck.

Hanson will share stage with Holocaust denier

ONE Nation founder Pauline Hanson plans to share a platform with a prominent denier of the Holocaust and a well-known neo-Nazi activist.

Ms Hanson will be a special guest next month at the Inverell Forum, an annual talkfest in the NSW country town that has long been associated with right-wing extremist groups.

Ms Hanson announced in December that she hoped to resurrect her political career by standing as a candidate in this year’s federal election.

She will share the Inverell platform with Richard Krege, an Air Services Australia engineer who recently attended the Holocaust Conference in Tehran. The Iranian government-sponsored conference attempted to disprove the accepted historic fact that six million Jews were murdered by the Nazis during World War II.

Mr Krege is regarded by fellow Holocaust deniers as an expert on the notorious Treblinka concentration camp, in Poland. Although 800,000 Jews and others died there, he claims just 5000 perished of disease and none were killed.

The Inverell Forum website said the gathering would discuss the “current Zionist propaganda campaign designed to condition the public to accept the inevitable first attack on Iran”.

Ms Hanson will also share the platform with Welf Herfurth, a long-time activist with Germany’s neo-nazi National Democratic Party before he moved to Sydney.

Mr Herfurth will address the forum on “what other nationalists outside Germany can learn from the NPD’s practical approach to politics and creating a parallel society”.

Other speakers at the forum include James Cook University academic Bob Carter, a leading global warming sceptic.

Ms Hanson could not be reached for comment yesterday.

The forum will hear how “recent events in Australia have galvanised her once more into taking up the cudgel for patriotic Australia”.

Ms Hanson served a term in federal parliament when she was elected as the MP for Oxley in 1996.

TOWNSVILLE police are investigating a Ku Klux Klan video that appeared on the internet featuring a burning cross and a white-hooded man making racist comments in response to the national “Sorry” motion.

Aboriginal activists, police, and race discrimination experts yesterday condemned the “vile” and “frightening” film posted six days ago on video-sharing website YouTube.

North Queensland Regional Crime Co-ordinator Det-Insp Warren Webber said officers would investigate the video. But he denied any significant KKK activity in Townsville.

“I don’t think racism is confined to Townsville,” Det-Insp Webber said.

“And I don’t think there is any magic wand to eliminate racist behaviour.”

The 30-year-old Townsville man who posted the footage, when contacted by The Courier-Mail yesterday, said Australian Aborigines did not deserve an apology.

“Why say sorry? If we did not come here they would still live in caves and be throwing spears. And they want us to say sorry for what?,” he emailed.

Under the username of Bennypip, he posted the video on February 1 in response to the proposal by the Federal Government to say “sorry” next Wednesday.

He refused to accept the racist attack was wrong.

Local Federal MP Peter Lindsay urged federal police to “hunt down this person” and charge him with racial vilification.

“Australians just don’t tolerate this kind of behaviour in our country. We won’t put up with it,” Mr Lindsay said.

He said he hoped there was no link to the large military community in the north Queensland city.

“Previously these sorts of things in Townsville have been associated with the Defence Force and I hope that is not happening again,” he said.

Aboriginal activist Gracelyn Smallwood said Townsville was well-known as “the nation’s KKK capital” and a “hotbed of racial discontent”.

“We can’t get too wound up, and hopefully all those people, both black and white, standing side-by-side prepared to say sorry will not be
overshadowed by this sort of red-neck, bigoted behaviour,” Ms Smallwood said.

Queensland Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Susan Booth said she was shocked by the footage.

“The KKK is the symbol of hate. I don’t understand the appeal the KKK has for these sorts of people, but this is very serious,” she said.

Understandably perhaps, authorities have announced a police investigation into the video (Police probe Townsville KKK internet video, ABC, February 7, 2008: “North Queensland police are investigating a racist internet video describing Aborigines as in-breds…”). And since it was brought to the attention of the corporate media, the video has been pulled. Which is somewhat curious, as there’s actually an abundance of racist videos on YouTube. For example, href="http://slackbastard.anarchobase.com/?p=978">a local bonehead named Jesse has a channel ‘genocidal88′ (88 = HH = Heil Hitler) on YouTube which contains a number of videos
celebrating neo-Nazism and the Holocaust, including two crude cartoons which depict the murder of a Jew. Jesse himself is a member of local
neo-Nazi groups Blood & Honour and the Southern Cross Hammerskins, which last came to the attention of the mass media when the groups organised a gig at the Melbourne Croatia Social Club. Prior to that, the groups used The Birmingham Hotel in Fitzroy as a venue; this weekend, one of Jesse’s former band mates is performing at a benefit gig at The Birmingham, on this occasion in aid of the Starlight Children’s Foundation!

Chances are our amateur filmmaker is a member of Stormfront Down Under (SFDU). SFDU last made the news in early January, when discussions on it by racists to march on the Cenotaph in Sydney for Australia Day were unveiled by Joe Hildebrand: “Much of the activity has been co-ordinated through the neo-Nazi website Stormfront, whose Australian arm is sic] moderated by 18-year-old Newcastle resident Rhys McLean [below]. Mr McLean said he was aware of the plans but said it was a matter for the individual organisers, not the website”.

The SFDU forum is populated by a diverse range of fascist and racist cranks — from members of the KKK to outright neo-Nazis, members of the
Australia First Party (such as Dr James Saleam) and Australian Protectionist Party
to Jim Perren (formerly of the White Pride Coalition of Australia); Patrick O’Sullivan of the ‘Creativity Movement’ to men such as Carl D.
Thompson.

On February 5, 2008, in a thread on the subject “What the **** is wrong with Abos?”, Carl writes:

There is one answer that covers all questions about the Australian Aborigines: they are retards.
The average IQ of the Aborigine is in the same range as the African Negro, which gives them an average in the 60s. Someone is considered to
be a retard at 75, so the average Aborigine is 10 to 15 IQ points below the level of a retard.
Do not forget that the way that statistics work about 40 per cent of Aborigines do not even make average.
If you look at the self-appointed Aboriginal leaders out there, every one of them has white genetic material in them.
Racially-pure Aborigines are not intellectually capable of anything more than digging up and eating grubs.

On January 13, 2008, a Victorian racist, using the pseudonym ‘revcore’, writes on a thread titled “Aboriginals and pushing white guilt about
Europeans stealing ‘their’ land”: “If whites didn’t civilise this land of ours, Australia would still be a land full of violent monkeys”.
Another forum member, a woman using the pseudonym ‘ladyfuro’, writes in a thread titled ‘SORRY’ (January 1, 2008):

Abos…gratefull? [sic] At every turn they sue us for the menial [sic] of acts.
They demand their sacred land back…then sell it to developers. They are an ungrateful, alcoholic, hate filled useless race of people…
After they killed an innocent white man over Christmas…he had the hide to play beach cricket with his family! The charges are assault and
assault causing bodily harm…No love lost here…

Oh…and NOT SORRY

There are numerous other examples of racist sentiment being expressed by SFDU members, especially with regards Australia’s indigenous peoples,
and of the most vulgar nature. So appalling is some of it that the Forum’s Administrators actually remove it from public display. It’s also
the case that many SFDU members are involved in ‘real life’ activism, from membership in one of the small number of fringe political parties
– such as Australia First and the Australian Protectionist Party — to the KKK, Blood & Honour, the Hammerskins and moribund groups such as the
ANM/ANWU, Patriotic Youth League and White Pride Coalition of Australia.

A profile of three current and former members of SFDU — DÃ¤vid Palmer, David Innes and John Drew — is available here. As for ‘bennypip’, it’s quite possible that he’s one of the handful of members
of the White Legion Knights of the KKK.

On a final note, the KKK has raised its pointy head in Townsville before, most recently last July. Note that: “Townsville Police Crime Co-ordinator Detective Inspector Warren Webber said he had never heard of the group and at this stage was not making any investigations. Townsville Mayor Tony Mooney and Thuringowa Mayor Les Tyrell both refused to comment on the rumoured branch.”

Glad to be (a) gay (Nazi)

Many people have had unkind words to say about Doctor James Saleam; indeed, I plead guilty to having been one of them. But I’m beginning to believe that Saleam is The Dice Man of the Australian far right and, like Luke Rhinehart, often — entertaining. In the latest installment of the continuing saga of a quack who’s gone to the dogs, it’s been revealed that the newest Fuehrer to be installed in Queensland, John Drew, is (gasp!) possibly gay. Naturally, this unnatural proposition has sparked a pained reaction on the part of the local battalion of the God Hates Fags Brigade.

Thus Fellow Queenslander ‘Wodensvolk’ / Carl D. Thompson — a deadset neo-Nazi and, not coincidentally, an exceptionally popular choice among fellow Stormfront Down Under (SFDU) members for the position of Moderator — remarks:

All sorts of allegations have been made against this man, most of which involve tennis and an unhealthy interest in teenage boys.
How much is true, I do not know.
Australia First needs to conduct a formal investigation to determine Drew’s fitness to remain both in the party and in his position.
If a formal investigation finds that there is no basis for these allegations (some of which are vile) the man’s innocence should be proclaimed from the rooftops.
If there is found to be substance to these allegations, well . . . [intimation of extreme violence]

‘303SMLE’ / Jim Perren chimes in with a veiled threat towards Darrin Hodges, the apparent source of these thoroughly scurrilous rumours. According to Jim, Darrin forgot to tell him of his concerns over John’s supposed homosexuality before publishing them on his blog. Or, to be precise, resurrecting some old posts on SF and wedding these to John’s role as Secretary of the Brisbane branch of Australia First.

So, what’s the evidence?

First, the announcement (SFDU, June 13, 2007) of plans to open a gay sauna at The Greyhound Hotel in St Kilda last July produced the usual splutterings by the Moral Majority on SF. The fanatical ferret-loving female fascist (and member of the Newcastle branch of the Australia First Party) ‘ladyfuro’ exclaimed:

What the hell is wrong with our society[?] This used to be illegal & now these dirty little handbags are catered to as much as immigrants are!
Just think…now the filthy paedophiles have some where out in the open to meet…if a terrorist truly wanted to act…

Why, they’d do just what David Copeland did in Brixton, UK in April 1999, and explode a bomb at The Greyhound, wouldn’t they? I wouldn’t be surprised if Jim Perren’s comrade Peter Campbell entertained similar phantasies when he allegedly distributed a tract called ‘How to build a David Copeland special’ among local white supremacists.

Another fascist twat named ‘SEIRYU’, on the other hand (who rather indelicately expresses his political perspective through the use of a Nazi flag as his avatar), expresses a real depth of knowledge regarding The Greyhound’s local environs:

Which brings us to ‘Wagnerite’, aka John Drew, who recalls (June 15, 2007):

The second and third equally bizarre references to male homosexuality by our Jew-hating, Wagner-loving, tennis-playing AF Secretary also appear on SF, and were made in response to the posting of a link to a vewy scawy and quasi-official sounding document called MEDICAL CONSEQUENCES OF WHAT HOMOSEXUALS DO, by Paul Cameron (of/) The Family Research Institute, a Christian anti-pink think tank based in Colorado. May 29, 2007:

As long as men do [not?!?] have anal sex I cannot see any problem with homosexuality. They have to pull their partners off in much the same way that women pull their male partners off. Women are often reluctant to have sex frequently whereas homosexuals are always ready for sex as they often produce lots of semen if they have a good diet and keep very fit.

Females are often quite aerobically unfit and so are unable to match the libido of sexually active men who can sustain an erection for a lengthy time.

Quite. Further (May 4, 2007):

Fancy having sex with a fat, unfit lady? Contrast this with being pulled off by a very fit and athletic male who keeps himself in absolutely wonderful physical condition…

But who is John Drew? To begin with, Drew THE ANTI-IMMIGRANT ACTIVIST! was profiled by Zoo magazine in August last year, along with DÃ¤vid Palmer (Imperial Wizard of the Australian Ku Klux Klan) THE NEO-NAZI! and David Innes (anti-immigration writer and radio DJ) THE WHITE SEPARATIST!. According to Drew himself:

I put my nationalist beliefs into practice by joining Australia First. I used to be in One Nation but my radical [political] beliefs and policy ideas saw me dumped as Queensland State Policy Co-ordinator and as the [candidate] for Ryan in the 2004 federal election [Drew stood in 2001]. I was so irritated I resigned and then joined the more radical Australia First.

According to a Doctor:

John Drew is off his nut. Heâ€™s involved in the Patriotic Youth League, the Australia First youth division, yet heâ€™s in his 50s; heâ€™s a bit old to be involved in a youth group.

Well… was involved in the Patriotic Youth League. After Stuart McBeth bailed, a local meathead called Luke Connors stepped forward. After developing an even rarer form of brain cancer through excessive phone use however (or rumour has it), John was left holding the bag, which he now keeps in the closet (along with the rest of his baggage). Two further facts about Our Man in Brisbane are that he used to drive a cab in Sydney and that he thinks Doctor Saleam is Great. Really Great. In fact, in a thread on SFDU titled ‘Jim Saleam… a great Australian’ (April 26, 2006) Drew writes:

In my 38 years as a political activist I have never seen any person so successful as Dr Jim Saleam. He is truly a great [A]ustralian.
