Where have all the nazis gone?

White supremacists hide in quiet suburbs
December 18, 2005

The shadowy far-right may be behind Sydney’s race riots. But where are they? William Birnbauer and Claire Miller track them down in outer Melbourne.

POST offices don’t get any more ordinary-looking than the glass-fronted Australia Post shop in leafy outer-suburban Croydon. A corridor runs the length of the shop and there is a row of post office boxes along one wall. That’s where you will find Box 223. It looks like every other box in every other post office. But it’s not, because Box 223 is the hub of radical, right-wing racist activity in Victoria.

Far-right groups admit to role

December 13, 2005

EXTREMIST groups accused of links to neo-Nazis have admitted mobilising more than 100 people to attend the riots in Cronulla.

Jim Saleam, the NSW secretary of ultra-nationalist group Australia First, said his members had recruited up to 120 people for the rally but denied they were involved in violence.

Neo-Nazis in race riots: police

December 12, 2005 - 9:57AM

Neo-Nazis are believed to have been among those who took part in the race-fuelled violence at Cronulla in Sydney’s south, NSW Deputy Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione says.

Up to 5,000 people descended on the beach yesterday as mobs yelling racist chants targeted people of Middle Eastern appearance.

Laces & Braces & Blank-Lookin’ Faces

This is some free advice to the Patriotic Youth League and the Australia First Party.

If you get caught out doing something wrong, please… don’t lie about it. You’re really not any good at lying.

I think that’s something that’s been well established over this past year.

Sydney Forum fail to get their NDP rep

One for the frudge, bro.
Confirmation was received this morning that Gert Finkenwirth, the intended German NDP rep at the Sydney Forum had his visa cancelled en route to Australia.

Thanks to Fight dem back, Finkenwirth was turned back to Germany whilst getting his connecting flight to Australia from Vienna.

Sydney Forum location revealed

Ok people.

After much too-ing and fro-ing we have decided to unveil the location of the Sydney Forum. This is obviously something we’ve known for some time now and in the interests of preventing crossed wires and intentional disinformation, we’ve decided to go public.

Australia’s largest gathering of neo-fascists, neo-Nazis and general right-wing wackjobs is set to take place on August 27th and 28th at:

The Russian Club
7 Albert Road,
Strathfield NSW

The forum kicks off at 9:30am.

Whatever the various activist groups in Sydney choose to do from this point on is completely up to them. FDB has been proud to be of service.

Threats? What threats?

Intensely curious at what type of threats the Macquarie University administration may have received from the supporters of Drew Fraser, FDB has decided to compile a nice page of threats issued to us by various neo-Nazi and white nationalist groups.

You can check them all out here.

This is by no means an exhaustive list and it will be updated regularly.

NDP deputy seeks entry into Australia

Holger Apple

Holger Apfel (pictured above) the deputy chairman of the far-right German National Democratic party of Germany (NDP) is believed to be seeking entry into Australia in order to participate in the 2005 Sydney Forum on August 27-29th.

The forum is a gathering of racist-right activists from across the white nationalist spectrum. This event is being put together by the tiny Australia First Party/Patriotic Youth League and their main organiser, the notorious Jim Saleam.

Holger Apfel is most well known for leading his NDP faction out of the Saxony parliament in protest during a minutes silence to commemorate the victims of the Auschwitz death camp.

Fight dem back! has alerted both the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMIA) and the Australian Federal Police to the possibility of Herr Apfel seeking a visa. We are also coordinating a response with anti-racism groups in Germany.

The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies has lodged similar expressions of concern with Australian authorities.

Neither DIMIA nor the AFP are willing to publicly comment on this matter.

An end to toil and trouble

As we hinted at last week, the Patriotic Youth League’s Stuart McBeth has stepped down from the leadership of the organisation.

PYL media representative Luke Connors explains that McBeth’s decision was made on the basis of his far-right political activities threatening his livelihood: “Getting fired from your job for your beliefs can make a person nervous about things like “rent” and “food”, he said.

McBeth’s position as a case officer for the Salvation Army was terminated earlier this year.

As with recent high profile retirees Kyle Chapman and Jason Molloy, everyone at Fight dem back! would like to wish Stu all the best for the future.

We hope that he tries to take a more balanced view in regard to Sudanese migrants settling in his home city of Newcastle and we hope that he puts his pointless past of race-hate politics behind him and gets on with his life.

We also hope that he has learnt how to read a train timetable.

PYL President “not rally involved to much anymore.”

A recent communication between Patriotic Youth League president Stuart McBeth of Newcastle and a journalism student from Queensland indicates that we may have more high profile people dropping out of the Australasian nationalist scene.

When approached by the student journo for some comments on the status of his organisation, McBeth replied:

“I am not rally involved to much anymore (sic). i have forwared your request onto PYL media rep Luke. he will reply soon.”

Luke Connors of Melbourne seems to be one of the few active PYL members left. A brief perusal of their official site shows that long-time member and 2IC, Andrew Wilson is no longer the official Sydney representative of the group.

“Darren”, another known Sydney member is listed as the local rep though Darren has also entered into communication with FDB to inform us that he is “no longer active with any group.”

It all begs the question of just who is running the PYL? Since being run out of Sydney and Newcastle in January of this year, these guys have been very quiet.

Is Jim Saleam’s youth group laying low whilst the heat is on or have they gone the way of the New Zealand National Front?
