They certainly don’t muck about on Stormfront. Formerly the reigning King and Queen of ex-Klansman (1978–1987) and convicted criminal Don Black’s Internet business ‘Down Under’, David Innes and Lilith Peterson really are dead parrots. Thus both David, a former host of ‘Thunder Down Under’ (a Stormfront Internet radio show), and Lilith, a former moderator of the Australiasian forum, have now not only been removed from Stormfront, but all of their posts — over three years’ worth — have been expunged from the record too. This suggests, among other things, that Black and his fellow supremacists are not exactly ‘grateful’ for the three years of unpaid labour the racist Perth couple donated to the promotion of all things Stormfront. (In addition to radio and Internet, the couple also hosted monthly Stormfront BBQs at their private residence, as well as distributed racist propaganda from the likes of (another) former Klansman David Duke.

Bloody hell.
Keeping track of the soap opera that is the local franchise of convicted criminal Don Black’s racist Internet site Stormfront is becoming increasingly difficult. Several weeks ago, its two leading lights, Perth-based couple David Innes (Baron von Hund) and Lilith Peterson (Lilith) declared that, as a result of the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune (fired at them by their fellow bigots), ’tis perhaps nobler to permanently retire from the world’s largest White supremacist online forum than to take up arms against a sea of far better spellers. Or to put it another way: their membership had passed on, was no more and had ceased to be. It had expired and gone to meet its maker; a stiff, bereft of life, it rested in peace. And if FDB! hadn’t nailed the pair to its site long ago, their participation would be pushing up the daisies. Their involvement in Stormfront, in other words, was off the twig; it had kicked the bucket, shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain, and joined the choir invisible. David and Lilith, in short, were ex-members.
Well, for a short while anyway.
But just as Innes’ first retirement in March was rather brief, his second disappearance has proved to be as short-lived as the first, and — like the monster from some B-grade horror flick — Innes is back; tinfoil helmet firmly affixed to his meat head, and partner and Chief Protector Lilith firmly in tow.
Well, not quite.
Everyone Wants To Be Moderator
Since David and Lilith’s departure, there’s been a few changes on SFDU, chief among them a temporary settlement to the squabbling over who gets to be Don Black’s deputy sheriff in the Pacific. Consequently, for now at least, this privilege is reserved for a teenaged Novocastrian named Rhys. And unlike David, Rhys is a firm supporter of Australia First and its fuehrer, the soon-to-be-exonerated-of-his-criminal-conviction Doctor James Saleam; Rhys happily ignoring, as do most if not all of Saleam’s supporters, the fact that Herr Doktor’s of non-White descent. Not that this is all that unusual among ‘White nationalists’. Thus another prominent, local example of a wacky not-quite-white racist is ‘Java’ Jack van Tongeren, a man whose father was of Javanese descent, and who attempted to expunge the memory of this shameful legacy by blowing up Chinese restaurants. Fortunately, like another moustachioed figure from the past, Jack has since turned to painting.
In the world of racist rock ‘n’ roll, on the other hand, the collapse of Panzerfaust Records (1998–2005) was the result of the exposure of one of its co-founders, Anthony Pierpont, as being of Mexican descent. (Note that local boneheads Fortress, playing in Melbourne on October 13, released the tracks “Commie Scum” — about, er, their fondness for communists — and “Parasite” — about their willingness to send non-White immigrants home in body-bags — on a Panzerfaust release called Project Schoolyard USA, aimed at recruiting high school students to White supremacism.) And of course, Nicky Crane, co-founder (with the other good fascist Ian Stuart Donaldson) of Blood & Honour, was both gay and died of an AIDS-related illness. Then there’s the case of the bonehead from Adelaide who fell in love with a cross-dressing young woman (with Bonus! penis), or, closer to home, the case of the Right Reverend Patrick O’Sullivan.
And that’s just scratching the surface.
In any case, trading, as Stormfront does, as being the world’s leading online forum for ‘White nationalists’ raises two obvious questions. The first is a person’s status as White; this question being a source of constant anxiety on Stormfront (and one which, incidentally, produces some of the more humourous threads). The second, obviously, is what it means to be a nationalist. In this context, there are almost daily invocations to Odin (and perhaps even the private sacrifice of chickens; you never know with this mob) appealing for his divine assistance in achieving unity among the Bruderhof. But as most soon come to realise, when push comes to shove, as in ‘mainstream’ Australian politics, it’s the seppos who ultimately call the shots, and most manouevring among the locals revolves around competing to see who can be the most deferential to their foreign masters. And so it was that, upon her return, Lilith re-assumed her role as moderator, only to then be unceremoniously dumped by her superiors — for reasons which remain somewhat obscure, but which may have something to do with allegations that she and her less literate half have somehow collaborated with teh enimy; and which may even involve her having referenced my blog…
Old Nazis Never Die, they Just Join ANN
The slow demise of David and Lililth on Stormfront is a cause for celebration on local forum Australian New Nation, where Stormfront rejects — survivors of Jack van Tongeren’s ANM and the short-lived White Pride Coalition of Australia — gather under the banner of all things White and Australian: football, meat pies, kangaroos, Holden cars, and a marked tendency to burn in Summer. Oh, that, and a pathological hatred of Asians, blacks, ‘communists’, gays, lesbians and Jews — and black Asian gay communist Jews in particular — combined with a paranoid suspicion of the many machinations of ZOG. Of which, FDB!, we are assured, is merely one of the more visible of its numerous tentacles, and whose outrageous assaults upon the honour of upstanding citizens is courageously exposed in the following extract from the online Diary of a NotMadWhiteMan:

Following David and Lilith’s resignation from Scumfront — and with the encouragement of Nichola, another member of Newcastle AF — a teenaged Novocastrian named Rhys has assumed the wobbly helm of Don Black’s Internet business Down Under. And while Pete Campbell, Jim Perren, and the remnants of the WPCA that gather under the guise of ANN gloat, SFDU has become the near-exclusive domain of a handful of other teenaged pipsqueaks… that is, in addition to the usual, bitter, older, middle-aged racists. And er… Frank White.
Still — and commensurate with the departure of von Dog and Diamond Lil, Australia First’s most vociferous critics — both the junior and senior White supremacysts who remain at Shitfront continue to maintain a close relationship with AF. Unfortunately for them, however, under the patronage of Dr. James Saleam in Sydney, his very close friend Diane Teasdale and some bloke called Barry in Shepparton, AF simply lurches from one increasingly bizarre crisis to another. The most recent of these incidents is the exclusion from the party of a tennis-playing patriot from Brisbane (which follows hot on the heels of Media Watch celebrity Darrin Hodges‘ expulsion). Although clearly derided by some, the tennis-player in question, John Drew, is in fact a mental and physical powerhouse, as the following extract from his wildly entertaining online diary makes abundantly clear:
At the University of Queensland tennis courts, where I mainly play and train, I continually see people not using proper tennis shoes, not drinking fluids before and during play, and not applying sunscreen lotion before playing. During a recent match in the Queensland Veterans Tennis Association annual titles I drank 1 litre of water containing Endura Magnesium Rehydration Formula powder during a singles match which lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. I also reapplied sunscreen lotion after the second set. After I reached home I consumed 3 fish oil capsules in an effort to diminish joint stiffness. As you can see from the photograph below, I am very lean, fit and strong from the relentless playing of tennis plus general fitness and strength training since 1965.
Nevertheless, despite maintaining a very lean, fit and strong appearance since 1965, Drew has been expelled from AF. And it was for criticising the country bumpkins in the Victorian (read: Shepparton) mob that poor young/old Drew got expelled. (And though Drew’s site patrioticyouthleague.net remains up, patrioticyouthleague.org is down. Or rather, it now re-directs the browser to the distinctly unyouthful-looking Victorian AF branch.)
Not to be denied, however, and ever the wily adversary, whether on or off the court, John has decided to ditch his plans to establish a Brisbane branch of AF, and to instead proceed to Plan B: the establishment of yet another racist mob, this one called the “Southern Cross Greens (Queensland)”. As it happens, the SCG share a PO Box with the ‘National Republicans’: 314, Kew, VIC, 3101 (the other branch of which is in NSW, PO Box 245, Concord West, 2138). Curiously, until recently, the ‘National Republicans’ were known as the ‘National Republican Movement’; and prior to that they went by the name of the ‘Australian Republican Movement’.

Having skipped off with a small amount of other people’s money, Innes and Peterson are not expected to be travelling to Sydney in August, meaning that the 2007 Sydney Forum has been reduced to just four speakers, neo-Nazi MC Welf Herfurth now only to be welcoming Cassidy, Fraser, Jewell and Saleam to the 50 or so grumbling, cardigan-wearing old bigots likely to attend this “major speaking event of the Australian patriotic resistance calendar”. Oh, and ah, two foreign fascists. And er, whoever else Jim can scramble together in the remaining weeks. On the bright side, a good fascist by the name of “Cecil Roach” appears to have left money to AF — so maybe Herr Doktor can bribe someone to appear? Say, with eight dollars?
Nationalists Benefit From Deceased Estate
July 2, 2007The Australia First Party and other nationalist associations and projects will benefit from the Estate of Mr. Cecil Roach.
The Estate was finally settled in Adelaide last week. A five figure sum of money will be transferred to an association especially established by some nationalists some time ago. Most of these persons are committed members of Australia First.
In 1988, Mr. Roach detailed a will leaving a certain part of his Estate to “Australian National Action of Grosvenor Place, Sydney.” He died in Adelaide in 1998, when it could be said that National Action - was essentially defunct.
Mr. Roach had been a strong supporter of the ‘anti immigration’ cause, working first with the Immigration Control Association in the 1970s and then passing into National Action, straight after it was founded in 1982. He never lost his fire for the fight despite advancing years.
Jim Saleam, Chairman of Australia First in New South Wales, said:

As for the reasons why Innes and Peterson have decided to retire, at least temporarily, from the public eye, these may revolve around accusations — probably originating with ideological rivals Peter Campbell and Jim Perren — that the couple have in some way been acting as informants for FDB!. On the other hand, it may also have something to do with the couple’s own allegations regarding the fitness — given that he is of non-White descent — of Dr James Saleam to lead the Australia First Party. Or perhaps it’s due to the lack of support shown by AF members for their pursuing this line of enquiry on SF; especially the Perth couple’s erstwhile allies in another couple, Nichola and Rhys (’AustralianEuro’) of Newcastle AF…

What an exciting week it’s been Race fans! In the faraway online kingdom of everyone’s favourite Pioneer Little Europe, Stormfront (SF), there’s been hardly enough space to contain the outpourings of manly Aryan love, and weird scenes abound inside the kkkomedy gold mine that is SF Down Under…
It all started with David Innes (better known as Baron von Hund, the consort of temptress/moderator Lilith) asking a few pertinent questions of Sydney-based Australia First (AF) Fuehrer Jim Saleam, such as ‘What sort of manly Aryan name is “Saleam”?’ Jim didn’t reply, and so he was banished to the Opposing Views (OV) section of SF. Baron gloated — but alas! — the unfaithful sockpuppet Rhys started a thread in OV in which Jim could defend his good, completely non-Arabic, 100% Aryan name from Baron’s scurrilous accusations.
In the meantime, Dr. Jim was engaged in a few political machinations of his own, such as organising the expulsion of long-time party stalwart Darrin Hodges as a “Christian Zionist”. The fact that Dazza had announced he wanted to have Jim’s job as NSW councillor for AF had nothing to do with his getting the boot, of course. (Christian Zionism is a belief shared by some fundamentalist Christians that the Jews must return to Israel in order for the prophecies of Revelations to kick off. It requires no particular sympathies for the Jews themselves.)
So, having successfully washed his hands of Dazza, Jim proceeded to reply to the questions posed to him on SF… well, not quite. You see, unfortunately for his dear readers, all of Jim’s replies were in Jimspeak, an idiolect based on the production of long rants, which circle the subject of discussion, but never actually descend to the ground. Unsurprisingly, the noble Baron froths at the mouth at Jim’s refusal to speak English, and writes some very unkind and misspelled words in response, including one gem of a post in which he asks “If you are European in decent, how do you explain your Arabic surname?” not once, twice, or thrice, but nine times in total.
All good stuff, but there’s a subtext to this amorous exchange between Jim and Dave. You see, there’s a number of fash out there that kind of sympathise with Jim. SF, however, has a slight problem with the free expression of differences, even on OV, and anything remotely critical of Baron von Hubby is almost invariably deleted by The Mighty Lilith. We’ve pointed this out previously, but since then SF stalwart and Sustaining Member Wodensvolk — fan of both Donald Duck and Adolf Hitler — has even had his account disabled.
Shock! Horror!
Which prompts the question: how long will it be before Don Black provides Mr. Thompson with a refund? And why was Crazy Carl dumped anyway? If you read SF, you wouldn’t know, but thanks to the hard-working gnomes in the ZOG archives, we do.

Re the Baron’s thoughts in the above post: it should not be forgotten that it has been the Baron who has threatened violence against people and bad mouthed National Socialists such as myself by calling us Nutzis.
He should not be surprised when people react in a hostile manner to threats and insults.

The consensus seems to be changing daily. We read that you just have to breathe and some fash has been disabled on SF, somebody’s switched allegiance, or some other pair of schmucks has kissed and made up. Latest in is that Pete and Jim have held out an olive branch to Innes. Oh hang on — no they haven’t.
Now there is two ways this can go, Baron could shut his mouth show up at the forum or he can escalate… We are going to stay silent on this for now for the sake of the Forum. Show some backbone Baron and do the same.
In the end, while Dr. Jim has provided some classic lines on the OV thread — and made Baron look like the illiterate fool that he is, and Jim the forgiving fuehrer — he still hasn’t answered the frigging question!!!

Among other matters of concern to beleaguered whiteys, apparently, is Jim’s past, “weather criminal or not�, and its effects upon public perceptions of the otherwise sound political institution that is the AF; his ethnic derivation (or as David puts it: “If you are European in decent, how do you explain your Arabic surname?�); Darrin Hodge’s unceremonious dumping from the Party — after declaring his intention to contest Jim’s position; and finally, Jim’s relationship with Ross May (�Why do you keep letting ‘The Skull’ hang around when it causes more harm than good?�).

In response to Lilith’s republication of a grim-faced mugshot of Jim, he claims it’s a forgery (which would appear to be pointless), predictably reiterates his innocence, and claims instead that he was framed by the political police for the crime of which he was convicted in 1991 and for which he was sentenced to four and-a-half years jail as punishment. “I was framed� is a line decided upon many years ago and proclaimed from the moment Jim stepped out of prison in 1994, thirteen years ago. So too, his line (or should that be ’script’?) concerning his attempts to clear his name, the fruits of which are surely bound to ripen at any moment now: “I am currently preparing an application to the Supreme Court to overturn the conviction won against me by the corrupt Special Branch in 1991.� ~ June 18, 2007.

Of the second photograph of Jim wearing Nazi insignia, he claims that this photo “of itself could be any number of things. It is a matter of context.� So… it could be a pink elephant riding a unicycle; it’s really all a matter of ‘context’.
In reality:
Channel 0-28 had planned to run a story on the Progressive Nationalist Party [one of the myriad of short-lived, far right groups of the late ’70s/early ’80s], which they began to film before National Action had been formed. Pretty soon we realised that the producers had done their homework, and they claimed to have an article Jim had written for the West Australian Hungarian Nazi journal Perseverance from the mid-seventies.*
However much I disliked Jim, I didn’t want one of his indiscretions to rebound on the party [National Action], and so organised a cover-up. I told Jim to have the original faxed to him from the National Library in Canberra. I rewrote it, toned it down, had it printed up as a leaflet, carried it around in my back pocket for a few days to age it, rang up Mum in Melbourne to send me one of my files as a cover, then took the leaflet to the TV station with a perfectly sound explanation — Jim had written a thoroughly respectable student nationalist leaflet that had been picked up somehow by the Nazis and then rewritten to make it more acceptable for their readership.

KKK offshoot targets Australian cities

May 07, 2007THREE Queensland cities have been targeted by offshoots of the Ku Klux Klan over the past two months in what appears to be a recruiting drive by white supremacist groups.
Toowoomba was targeted first by leaflets that asked people to become a klansman or klanswoman in March.
Shortly afterwards, Cairns was targeted and then Rockhampton, last month, by a different group, Storm Front.
In Toowoomba and Cairns the pamphlets promoted the US-based White Legion Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.
Its website has an Australian page featuring propaganda presented as fact about African and Asian immigration, Aboriginal crime, the homosexuality agenda and - an old favourite - Jewish influence in the media.
Queensland Attorney-General Kerry Shine, a Toowoomba MP, referred the pamphlets to the state’s Anti-Discrimination Commissioner, Susan Booth.
“Toowoomba is a very tolerant city,” Mr Shine told The Australian when the KKK first struck.
“I believe any form of racial vilification is abhorrent.”
B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission executive officer Manny Waks said the Storm Front flyers in Rockhampton called for “real” Australians to join white supremacist movements and to fight against crimes allegedly committed by ethnic groups.
Mr Waks said the leaflet drops indicated a recruitment drive. “It is outrageous that in this time and age the KKK and Storm Front are still active in our tolerant and peaceful country,” he said.
“No Australian should be affiliated in any way, shape or form with these vile, racist groups. We must ensure that the impressionable youth does not get influenced by these racists to join its minuscule ranks.”
The Queensland Anti-Discrimination Commission said that the leaflets incited hatred and provoked people to harm others. Queensland Police have also investigated each of the leaflet drops.
“There is no doubt that the KKK and Storm Front are at best on the fringe of Australian society, but it is always concerning to see any activity coming from such quarters,” Mr Waks said.
“It is a reminder that blatant racism still exists in our multicultural Australia and that we must remain vigilant and be willing to take swift action to combat such individuals and organisations when the need arises.”

Have you ever seen an ANZAC Day march? I had the privilege of serving with a great many non Anglo-Saxon soldiers during my time in the ADF. This included Asians and Egyptians. I also served with a Vietnam veteran who was Hungarian and whose father fought for Hungary in WWII (ie the AXIS). Added to that there are always contingents of Turks, Chinese, Italians and Vietnamese that march every year.
By the way, if you do truly support ANZAC Day, you’ll learn not to spell it “Anzac”.

Leaflets violate race hate laws
By NATALIE SMITHRACISM has reared its ugly head in Rockhampton again.
Residents across the Central Queensland city have been bombarded with leaflets dropped in their letterboxes calling for “real” Australians to join white supremacist movements and to fight against crimes allegedly committed by various ethnic groups.
One of the groups mentioned is a world-wide organisation called Storm Front.
It has branches in the United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Italy and Russia, and members call themselves patriots.
While this group seems to be relatively new to Rockhampton, residents have been confronted by these messages of hate by right-wing radicals before.
Member for Rockhampton Robert Schwarten was made a target five years ago.
When his office was plastered with stickers by white supremacist group the World Church of the Creator in June, 2002, he was livid.
So it came as no surprise yesterday that Mr Schwarten was scathing in his attack, labelling the publishers of the leaflets “fanatical lunatics”.
“These people are a menace to our community,” he said yesterday.
“This is just trash, and most reasonable people wouldn ’t pay any heed to these rantings.
“I think most people who have received this sort of thing would have put it straight in the bin.
“These people are just fanatical lunatics who are encouraging violent behaviour.” Rockhampton is home to many international students studying at Central Queensland University and the city ’s leaders have spent decades trying to promote the Beef Capital ’s multicultural image.
This latest act has, unfortunately, tarnished that image.
Late yesterday a media spokesman confirmed students at the university had not yet been targeted in this recent race hate attack.
Action is being taken to address the festering race hate problem with the Anti-Discrimination Commission launching an investigation this week.
Yesterday Anti-Discrimination Commission regional manager Julie Davis said the leaflet distribution was definitely a breach of the Anti-Discrimination Act.
“This leaflet about racial vilification is inciting hatred against people because of their race and is inciting people to harm others,” she said.
Ms Davies’ concerns are shared by Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Susan Booth.
“In Queensland, it ’s against the law to publicly behave in a way that encourages people to hate others because of their race,” she said.
“If you receive one of these leaflets and know who is distributing it, I encourage you to report it to the Commission.
“By doing nothing about public acts of hatred, we might as well say it ’s okay; and it can never be okay to tolerate racebased hatred.” Queensland Police are referring reports to the Anti-Discrimination Commission officers.
People who have received leaflets are being encouraged to bring complaints about racism and vilification to the Commission ’s Rockhampton office at 209 Bolsover Street or by telephone on 1300 130 670.

Racist twats on Stormfront Down Under are positively fuming over Tamworth Council’s recent (8:1) reversal (January 16) of an earlier (6:3) decision (December 12, 2006) to oppose the presence of Sudanese refugees in the town, the initial decision arising partly on the basis of Mayor James Treloar’s designation of the refugees as being anti-social, disease-ridden criminals: as it happens, a description of the general character of ‘blacks’ not terribly dissimilar to that constantly reiterated on Florida businessman Don Black’s site.

One pseudonymous member, ‘Aquila Audax’, is vewy upset, and has left a very personal message for the Mayor: “YOU SPINELESS GUTLESS USELESS VILE UN-AUSTRALIAN FILTH”. Another, ‘Standarten’, accuses the Mayor and the other “treasonous” councillors who joined him in reversing the decision as having “committed an act of Genocide against the white population of Tamworth”. (He also describes Tamworth’s Catholic parish priest Father Richard Gleeson (St Nicholas) as being a “piece of filth” for supporting the presence of Sudanese refugees in the town.)
Former spokesperson for the now-defunct Patriotic Youth League, Luke Connors, a/k/a ‘young_soldier’, opines that “We need a bigger organisation. We could have stopped this.” Stopped what? According to aussie_lad, the presence of “filthy criminal Africans” in Australia.
‘303SLE’, meanwhile, senses the shadowy influence of (gasp!) Communists in relation to the Council’s reversal: “The people of Toowoomba[,] to put it simply[,] have been the victims of nothing but lies and Marxist treachery”. Carl D. Thompson, a/k/a ‘Wodensvolk’, usefully reminds the reading public that, in reaction to this “disgusting display by [a] bunch of spineless race traitor cowards” regarding “these ugly retarded black savages”: “I have a rope and look forward to using it”.
Another thinker, Skrewdriver fan, Sydney bouncer and Australia First Party member, James Newman, a/k/a ‘JN’, claims that Tamworth Council is “terrified of being called that meaningless word ‘Racist’“. In a statement that is not at all racist, war widows’ retirement village vandal Ben Weerhym, a/k/a ‘Patriot Alliance Down Under’, decries the entry of “Third World Negro life-forms” into Tamworth.
As to ‘What to do?’ in order to forestall the Communist Jews’ dastardly plans to “destroy the unity of White Australia”, ‘mithar’ recommends joining the convicted neo-Nazi criminal Dr. James Saleam’s Australia First Party — which, incidentally, is fielding John Moffat for the seat of (where else?) Cronulla in the upcoming (March 24) NSW state election.
All in all, they’re not a happy team at Stormfront, and while they ‘love’ their race — and will stoop to doing and saying just about about anything to ‘win’ their imaginary race war — they certainly seem incapable of riding the bumps with a grin!
The council’s original decision to “reject a Federal Government offer to be involved in a one-year trial resettlement program of five Sudanese refugee families” in The Country Music Capital of Australasia was made at a council meeting in mid-December, 2006, and was in response to an initial Federal Government proposal made in July, 2005. As Damien Murphy wrote in December:
Much of the heat is on Treloar, a lucerne farmer whose mercantile family belongs to Tamworth’s ruling class.
The Mayor says he is not against refugees, but fears the Federal Government program would maroon Sudanese in town without adequate support. The trouble is that Treloar keeps talking.
He links concerns about refugees with “Cronulla-style riots” and smears the Sudanese already in town, saying they live in overcrowded conditions, have been charged with eight offences — including driving without licences and assaulting local Aborigines — and fudges around suggestions of sexual assault. When pushed, Treloar says they harass librarians when told to stop hogging the internet.
“You see, in the culture they come from, women are treated abysmally. I mean, we’ve given [sic] women the vote here.”
While Treloar keeps running off at the mouth about resident Sudanese, the Oxley Local Area commander, Superintendent Tony Jefferson, gives the lie to the Mayor’s words.
He says some have been charged with assault, traffic and domestic matters — but “they do not stand out over any other ethnic group in the community”.
Unrepentant, Treloar says: “If this is racist, well so be it. Call me a racist then.”
Er… well yeah, anyway (*whistles*), for whatever reason, Treloar claims to have apologised for his initial outburst and decision — which fact has been reported in the local paper:

EMBATTLED Tamworth mayor Cr James Treloar has apologised to members of both the local and the national Sudanese communities for negative remarks made as part of the city’s refugee resettlement centre debate.
The remarks, which included allegations of criminal offences and claims local Sudanese posed a health risk to the Tamworth community, were widely reported as racist slurs within Australia and across the world.
Cr Treloar said he had apologised to local and visiting Sudanese on two occasions, the most recent being on Sunday.
The apology revelation came yesterday when The Leader asked Cr Treloar if he felt the local Sudanese — who have been reported as feeling stigmatised by the remarks — were owed an apology.
“I have already given them (Sudanese) an apology,” he said. “I spoke to them in person. This was never about the Sudanese already living in Tamworth.”
Cr Treloar said it was unfortunate that when speaking about previous refugee resettlement program failures he used the existing Sudanese as an example. He regretted involving them in the debate and had acknowledged this at a meeting on Sunday.
“It was never my intention (to target the local Sudanese community),” he said. “I met them to let them know that they are welcome in Tamworth and that they are part of the Australian community.”
Cr Treloar said many of the problems had stemmed from the fact that the media had been running its own agenda…
The mayor did concede the refugee resettlement centre dispute had damaged Tamworth’s reputation in the national and the international marketplace and also expressed concern at the way the issue had been picked up by neo-fascist organisations such as Stormfront.
“It concerns me when I see white supremacy groups — who have no understanding of what the real issues are — support the decision,” he said…
