Anti-Semite alleged to be undermining Vic Lib reforms

Not that we really care about the fractured state of the Victorian Libs, but we do wonder why anti-Semite conspiracy theorist Ken Aldred remains a party member. Seems to us like the sensible thing to do would be to kick him out. (Like, several years ago.) Anyway…

From VexNews, Australia’s angriest news source for factional infighting:

MAD BAD KEN: Former Liberal federal MP anti-semite undermines plans for party reform while faction feuding continues.

Disgraced former Liberal MP and bizarre anti-Jewish conspiracy theorist Ken Aldred is leading the charge in Melbourne’s south-east suburbs against proposals for constitutional change in the Liberal party.

Despite being disendorsed last year as a federal Liberal candidate, Aldred continues to wield substantial power in the south-east where he is the President of the Holt federal electoral council.

Anti-Semite Spotted Supping With Sneaky Libs

From Vex News (news for the discerning gentleman or lady):

Anti-Semite welcomed by Liberals over dim sum

Disgraced former Liberal Party secretariat staffer Susan Chandler was sighted yesterday tucking into some Chinese yum cha with a large number of current staff from the party HQ.

The incident has fuelled speculation that the Baillieu faction is working hard on bringing back from the cold the former campaign worker who was forced to quit after an anti-semitic email she sent colleagues was exposed.

In the email, Chandler referred to one of her party’s own candidates as “that greedy fucking Jew” after he’d been brave enough to ask for extra campaign materials.

By Chris Graham & Amy McQuire

Mal Brough, the former Minister for Indigenous Affairs, and his teenage son mocked Aboriginal culture and the Australian Aboriginal accent during an interview with a Queensland journalist, a recent feature in the Courier Mail’s weekend magazine reveals.

The story, entitled Brough Justice, is a profile of the former federal politician turned leader of the Queensland Liberal Party.

In it, journalist Matthew Fynes-Clinton reveals that during an interview at Brough’s home, he and his son, James, aged 17, break into a mock, impromptu performance of Aboriginal song and dance, which she describes as “jarringâ€?.

Semi-literate racist blogger advising Lib MP

Remember this chap? We do hope he’s learned how to spell since 2006 - then again, nobody ever claimed the Liberal Party was a meritocracy. Roll tape!

From the Herald Sun:

Race blogger Gary Anderton advises Liberal MP
John Ferguson
May 20, 2008

A FORMER Liberal candidate embroiled in a racist blog row is now an adviser to a state MP.

Gary Anderton published material maligning Aboriginals and his Indian doctor on his blog in 2004. He ran as the candidate for Lyndhurst at the 2006 state election.

Details of his blogging were reported, and he apologised.

It emerged yesterday that Upper House Liberal Inga Peulich had since hired him as an adviser.

Do the Libs have a problem with anti-Semitism?

Firstly, from The Age:

Prejudice no longer a bar to Jewish progress: Leibler
Farah Farouque
May 13, 2008

DOES the disclosure of a single anti-Semitic email in the Liberal Party disclose deeper prejudice in traditional establishment circles against the Jewish community?

Leading Jewish businessman Mark Leibler suggests prejudice lingers in some quarters but was not a barrier to progress any more.

“I can still remember when a young Jewish boy or girl in the 1960s and early ’70s would have difficulty getting (legal) articles in establishment firms,” Mr Leibler said. And, he said, even today “when you mix in business circles you will hear racist comments, including anti-Semitic remarks”.

Anti-Semitic scalp claimed in Liberal infighting

From The Age:

Baillieu vows purge as Lib’s race slur exposed
David Rood and Paul Austin
May 13, 2008

THE crisis in the Victorian Liberal Party deepened yesterday when a campaign manager at party headquarters was forced to quit for making a racist comment about a Liberal candidate at last year’s federal election.

Susan Chandler, the state campaign manager and a supporter of Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu, resigned after anti-Baillieu forces released an email in which she made an anti-Semitic comment about a Jewish Liberal.

In the October 19 email, to fellow Liberal campaign worker John Osborn, Ms Chandler described the party’s candidate for Melbourne Ports, Adam Held, as a “greedy f–king Jew” after he wrote to party HQ asking for more campaign pamphlets.

Love means never having to say you’re sorry

    Offensive ‘Sorry’ email hits in-boxes

AN OFFENSIVE “apology” to the Aboriginal population which caused outrage nearly eight years ago is being distributed online through a flood of emails.

Email in-boxes - including those of media outlets - have been hit by the message entitled the “Australian Apology to the Aborigines/Aboriginal Populationâ€?, causing a backlash on message boards across the internet…

And this just in from the Department of Jackie Kelly Eat Your Heart Out:

Lib endorses racist ‘apology’ email

February 17, 2008

BRENDAN Nelson has been embarrassed by a racist version of an “apology” to the Stolen Generations being circulated by prominent Liberals who don’t believe the Opposition Leader should have supported last week’s historic gesture.

The mock apology accuses Aborigines of being cannibals and ungrateful for the assistance they have received from white governments…

The document is being circulated via email in Sydney by prominent Liberal and businessman Ian Goode. Mr Goode, a former builder, is well known in Cronulla, the southern Sydney suburb that was the scene of ugly race riots in December 2005.

Mr Goode was quoted at the time for blaming the riots on Lebanese Muslims.

While Mr Goode yesterday denied being the author of the racist “apology” - which is headed “the APOLOGY Kevin Rudd should be giving to the Aboriginals!!” - he endorsed its sentiments at the top of his email with the words: “Not politically correct, but close to the point.”

Senior Liberal sources confirmed yesterday that Mr Goode was active in the party and had been chosen as a pre-selector in the recent controversial pre-selection for the Cronulla-based federal seat of Cook, though he was unable to take his place in that process.

Mr Goode also heads up the Cronulla Nippers Club - the biggest youth surf organisation in Australia.

“It was only a joke,” he said…
