Racist hotel throws out Aborigines

From the Sydney Morning Herald:

‘Pure racism’: Aborigines chucked out after checking in
Dylan Welch
March 11, 2008

The Alice Springs backpacker hostel at the centre of racial discrimination claims is owned by one of the largest Northern Territory touring companies in Australia, which purports to educate its tour clients about local Aboriginal culture.

Adventure Tours Australia, which last year sold tours to more than 90,000 people according to its website, owns the Haven Backpacker Resort in Alice Springs.

The resort has been bitterly criticised for ejecting a group of indigenous guests because it said it catered only “for international backpacking tourists, which the group was not”.

Aborigines challenging racist convictions

From The Age:

Five Aborigines challenge convictions
March 11, 2008

Five Aborigines are challenging their assault and affray convictions, claiming NSW police deliberately flouted laws aimed at protecting indigenous people, a judge has been told.

In the NSW Supreme Court, Peter King, for the five, said the case related to an October 2006 incident at Bermagui on the NSW south coast.

He said three cars filled with white youths drove to the houses of two Aboriginal families and shouted anti-Aboriginal racist slogans.

Armed with weapons, they attacked the houses, where children were sleeping inside and in a tent on the lawn, Mr King said.

Oh dear.

New Zealand’s inappropriately named National Democrats - neo-Nazi arsonist Kyle Chapman’s latest venture - appear to have given up, if a message on their website to that effect is any guide. The problem: lack of support.

Quelle horreur!

Looks like our Kyle will have to return to his search for hilicopter pilates.

Dr Helen Caldicott addresses far-right at Inverell Forum

Oh dear.

The Forum that was considered too kooky and racist even for Pauline Hanson (see below) is apparently considered a thoroughly worthwhile event by others. Thus it is that Helen Caldicott, known as an anti-nuclear activist, has this weekend lent her name to the Inverell Forum — along with the Sydney Forum, one of the two main annual gatherings of the far right in Australia.

Other speakers at this year’s Forum, in addition to the usual assortment of conspiracy theorists, opponents of Big Gub’mint, and advocates of alternative medical practices, included Greg Clancy — who denounced the multicultural menace — and an anxious Anglo-Saxon named Andrew Fraser (who also spoke at the 2006 Forum).

Oddly enough, last year’s Inverell Forum was to feature Pauline Hanson, but she withdrew after being informed she was to share a platform with a neo-Nazi, Welf Herfurth. Herfurth spoke on the subject of the German NPD, of which he was once a member. (Herfurth also spoke at the 2003 Forum on the same topic.)

Racism on the rise in Nelson

From the Nelson Mail:

Police say racism growing in Nelson
Kiran Chug
Thursday, 06 March 2008

Racial harassment is a growing problem in Nelson, say police who are concerned that few victims have the confidence to report race-related crimes.

One year on from the racially-motivated bashing of three Korean students outside a Waimea Rd dairy, Nelson Bays Police area commander Brian McGurk said racism was still an issue the region needed to combat.

Last March’s attack, which resulted in two men being jailed on assault charges, had brought Nelson’s problems into the public arena.

Oh, we do love a good outing.

Dear users of Stormfront Downunder. It’s pretty much official, “ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US.”

And we’re not talking about the sort of outings that involve fresh air, picnic blankets, frisbees and creaming soda.

Do we really have to spell it out? If you’ve been a longtime user of SFDU and especially if you’re a sustaining member well, more fool you for being a racist dick trying to lead a double life. If you’re so goddam proud of being a swastika waving tool ONLINE, why shy away from the spotlight when your online persona is presented to your offline world?

So, in that vein - let’s say a hearty g’day to Nafe, or Nathan Clarke as he prefers to be known by his colleagues.
