Why are the National Front opposing bail for those arrested in the recent police raids against people who have been labeled “terrorists”? Perhaps the National Front should take a look at their own organisation and those that have made up its ranks past and present. There’s a lot for them to explain there.
Lets take a look, shall we?
The group has historically been lead by some rather dodgy types. The NF’s current National Secretary is Colin King-Ansell, who was jailed for attacking a synagogue back in the days when he was quite open about his Nazi politics. Interestingly, despite claiming to the Taranaki Daily News last year that he left far-right politics behind 25 years ago, he helped set up a nazi skinhead gang called Unit 88 in Auckland in the late 1990s. After that failed he set up the Fascist Union with Kyle Chapman and Kerry Bolton. The Fascist Union issued this poster containing an incredible array of spelling mistakes :
Chapman himself burned down the meeting house of a Southland marae in his youth, before becoming the NFs National Director. He was always talking about how the NF was setting up a “militia”.
Chapman issued a particularly odd press release in his time as the NFs Director in which he claimed the NF was close to declaring war on the NZ Government. When he left the NF he formed his own “militia”.
Then of course there was that business of a previous NF Wellington Representative and some of his NF mates getting into trouble for $70,000 worth of stolen explosives!
Lest we forget, the NFs (now ex-) Youth Representative and their former webmaster went to jail for attacking seven Auckland mosques. Don’t be fooled by National Director Sid Wilson’s claim of trigger-happy Ross Baumgarten being a “recent recruit”. He had been involved in and attended NF demos over a year before the attacks. The NF’s Hamilton representative at the time also took part in a vandalism attack on a Maori carving, causing $15,000 damage.
The NF aren’t too shy about flaunting nazi insignia on their clothing or tattooed upon their bodies at their demonstrations.
Neither are they shy about their “militia” training camp a few years ago.
Check it out, four NF leaders in one shot- and they all say they didn’t notice all the nazi armbands and salutes going down.
If you have a lot of skeletons rattling around in your closet, you shouldn’t go pointing the bone at others. The NF don’t seem to have learned that one.
