In the wake of 17 people from Maori activist and environmental groups being arrested in NZ recently for some sort of “terrorist” conspiracy, former National Front leader Kyle Chapman has begun organising public “meetings about terror Issues” with right-wingers around New Zealand.
Kyle wants to discuss “Moari terrorism and how we as a movemnet would react to it” [sic], and “police crack downs and how we can protect ourselves from them.” He’s put a posting, readable by all, on white supremacist website “Stormfront,” but states the meetings are only for those who know him.
Well, we know him. It seems a bit rich that Kyle is concerned about “Moari terrorism” (Note: Kyle’s not big on spelling!)
Let’s take a look at Mr. Chapman’s background.
Kyle is banned for life from owning a gun after he shot his brother years ago, making this particular pose a bit awkward:
Chapman has burned down the meeting house of a Southland marae and placed a fake bomb on the doors of a Catholic girls’ school in Invercargill.
Some years after that he got involved with the National Front. Chapman went on to form the Fascist Union in the late 1990s.
The Fascist Union produced this poster:
which appeared on walls in Christchurch, alongside this one:
After the Fascist Union fell apart, Kyle got involved in the National Front again… and in fact became its National Director.
The NF then became embroiled in a stolen explosives controversy;
and also announced that they would be forming a “militia”…
Fancy that.
Somewhere along the way, this photo of Kyle appeared on a NF e-group.
When you’re done looking up his nose, notice the cute SS Regimental armband on Kyle’s sleeve.
Kyle’s shenanigans copped the ire of the NZ Returned Services Association when he suggested that NF members should attend ANZAC Day services even though NF members were very blatant in using Nazi imagery.
Chapman issued a particularly odd press release in his time as the NF’s Director in which he claimed the NF was close to declaring war on the NZ Government.
Eventually Kyle left the NF as the pressure was getting to him.
What did he do then? He went back to pursue his fantasy of running a militia.
And this guy wants to hold public meetings to discuss protection from terrorism.
Crazy.
You’d think he’d be teaching a community college course on the subject.
