Racial tensions erupt in Cronulla
September 03, 2007

RACIAL tension erupted in Cronulla again last night during a violent clash between two groups of men.

A brawl at Cronulla railway station shortly after 7pm between the groups resulted in three men being taken to Sutherland Hospital with serious stab wounds.

Two of the victims were stabbed in the neck during the incident and one man received a stab wound under his left eye.

Police swooped on the station - the scene of the Cronulla race riots in December 2005 - and quickly sealed off the area.

It is believed the incident happened after three Caucasian men allegedly assaulted a man of Pacific Island appearance on the station platform, kicking him in the head.

The bashed man left the scene and returned a short time later with several of his friends and a brawl erupted.

During the brawl, the three men involved in the earlier attack at the station were stabbed.

In a separate incident, a man was in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed in the neck at Greenacre.
