The Swindle: Just where did the ABC get its rent-a-crowd? (FDB director’s cut extended version)

Anti-hate campaigner Cam Smith writes:

Those viewing the post-Swindle discussion with Tony Jones would have noticed that things got a little bit fruity when it came time to throw to the audience.

One audience member went the climate change believers for relying on methodology “disproved 400 years ago” while three others accused them of running a secret Eugenics agenda. “This is Hitler’s Nazi race science!” yelled one.

Somehow, the audience seemed to be chock-a-block with members of the Citizens Electoral Council (CEC).

July 09, 2007

PANIC at being pursued through Brisbane streets by “abusive skinheads” ultimately saw a fleeing driver run a red light and smash into an on-coming vehicle, the Brisbane District Court has heard.

At the scene the unidentified pursuers allegedly continued to abuse the four young people in the wreckage and dragged a seriously injured woman across the backseat by her arm, despite her pleas not to be moved.

It was also alleged that driver Steven Alexander Geary was chased into a nearby service station and confronted, and that another male passenger was pulled from the car and “roughed up”.

Racial abuse on the rise
By REBECCA TODD
Monday, 2 July 2007

Being the target of flying missiles from cars and verbal abuse is becoming a fact of life for more Asian people in Christchurch.

Police and the Human Rights Commission say complaints of racial abuse are rising.

The last month has seen a spike in formal complaints, says the commission, although other agencies claim the trend started with negative publicity about cheating Chinese students in February.

Commission race relations adviser Zheela Vokes said she had seen a significant increase in formal complaints in the past month, although she could not provide statistics.

Complaints included racial abuse shouted on the streets, being elbowed, or approached aggressively.
