QLD police accused of “racist abuse”

From the Herald Sun:

Police accused of racist abuse
November 11, 2006

A COMPLAINT has been lodged with the Anti-Discrimination Commission over alleged racial abuse at a Brisbane police station.

A man who wishes to remain anonymous said he suffered racist remarks when he went to the Cleveland police station in bayside Brisbane, over an insurance matter.

He told ABC TV’s Stateline that one police officer began the vilification, and another joined in, after he told them the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service (ATSILS) would be representing him.

Swans rally behind Jewish attack victim

From the Herald Sun:

Swans fly to defence
Matt Cunningham
November 11, 2006

THE Sydney Swans have rallied behind a Jewish man and his children who were racially abused by country footballers.
The Swans’ Melbourne-based general manager and former champion Tony Morwood wrote to Menachem Vorchheimer, a Swans supporter, after reading of his plight.

“It horrifies me that in today’s society you and your children (especially your children) have to be put through such a stressful situation,” Mr Morwood wrote.

“I would like to emphasise that not all people that are associated with football clubs act in this way, and I am sure you know this, and it is the minority that give us a bad name.”

Racism: It’s just not cricket

Yeah, we are pretty disappointed with ourselves for that title too.

From the Herald Sun:

Stars hit louts, racists for 6
Grant McArthur and Iain Payten
November 10, 2006

AUSTRALIAN Test players have been recruited to help police, security and even spectators crack down on drunken louts and racism during the Ashes series.

A host of measures to cut down unruly behaviour during the series was announced by Cricket Australia yesterday.
Among them are the provision of extra security staff inside and outside grounds, increased CCTV use and a mobile phone text-messaging system that allows fans to report anti-social behaviour from the stands.

Australian players have also pre-recorded video messages appealing for good behaviour during matches and a Cricket Australia-financed public education campaign will be launched to tell fans “where the line is drawn” for items banned as part of anti-racism measures.

The Strange Case of Frank A White

Frank A White is one of those people who likes to stand on a soapbox and yell out, very loudly, what he thinks is important. Unfortunately, Frank is also a delusional racist — who happens to think his is the greatest mind in the known universe.

From his unsavoury past as a moderator of a ‘World Church Of The Creator’ forum through to his flirtation with Afrikaaner white supremacists wanting to hunt ‘kaffirs’ on the veldt, his flip-flop ‘I am not!’/'Yes I am!’ a racist on a political discussion board — and his odd fascination with the white supremacist milieu in Australia — we’ve followed Frank’s progress. And sighed. His particular interest in the Australia and South African racist milieu is ‘odd’, because Frank actually lives behind a screen in Toronto, Canada.

Well, that’s not the only thing ‘odd’ about Frank.

After making a few cursory remarks on Mr White some time ago, we decided that Frank was just another one of those racists who likes to grandstand and to be noticed. We also came to the conclusion that he was probably quite mad. So we pretty much decided that the best policy with Frank was to just ignore him, and not to give him the attention he so dearly craves.

That is, until now; because Frank has displayed some of the most bizarre behaviour we’ve yet seen on the interweb thingie, and it is causing great mirth and shaking of heads.

Frank likes Blogspot you see. He likes to be able to stand up and spout his ridiculous, absurdly long-winded theories supported by discredited, racist anthropologists, secure in the knowledge that the Google/Blogger/Blogspot machine would defend his right to vent forth on any sick Nazi shit he could find.

So, Frank’s first blog hung around for a while, and Frank even seemed to be making lots of neo-Nazi friends at http://frankawhite.blogspot.com

But then suddenly — poof! — that blog disappeared, and in quick succession — from mid-September — Frank popped up, ran for a few days, and then closed:

and most recently, popped-up-so-quickly-before-he-shut-it-down-that-none-of-us-actually-saw-it on

http://fwhite.blogspot.com

Somewhere in the middle of all this yo-yoing, Frank caught up with his old mate Paul ‘Holocaust? What Holocaust?’ Fromm, and most recently he’s been singing the praises of the MAUP Institute in the Ukraine. You know — the one that gave David Duke his doctorate? And then gave him another, honorary one, for speaking at a graduating class and being a good racist dickhead? Shame they’re out of the business of handing out dodgy degrees

Who knows, maybe Fromm talked him out of the Redwatch thing -– not exactly the safest place or the best look for a polite Nazi these days — but the real question is:

Why would any sane person have 10 different blogs in 10 weeks?!?

We leave you, gentle reader, to answer that question.

‘Cos we’re buggered if we know.

Life under Workchoices: Being vilified in the workplace? Don’t say a word!

Support the Striking Workers at Turrella

Wednesday 8 November 6:00 am
Thompson’s Roller Shutters
6 Henderson Street Turrella

Next to Turrella Station (turn left at Stn exit)

Thompson’s Roller Shutters PTY LTD Turella are some real stand-up blokes.

After trying to force its workers to sign AWA’s for over six months the Thompson’s management have taken advantage of the absence of unfair dismissal laws and fired an employee of 13 years for complaining to management about racial vilification within his Turrella workplace. All class.

It went down a little bit like this…

After weeks of bullshit from copping racist notes on his locker from his co-workers to having his Lebanese bread put in the staff toilets, the fired employee went to management to complain about the vilification he was suffering. Rather than, oh say, addressing the problem and putting a stop to racist abuse in their business, management gave him the sack for “causing division” amongst the workers.

Since the sacking, nine workers - some of whom have been with Thompson’s for over 18 years - have gone on strike in solidarity with the sacked employee and in refusal of being placed on an AWA. So far 7 full timers have signed AWAs and the company has brought in 9 scabs to replace those on strike.

Fight back (via peaceful community assembly) against Workchoices and Racism in the workplace on Wednesday outside Thompson’s Roller Shutters.

Schoolyard racism on the rise

From the SMH:

Muslims, Jews targeted by school racists
Anna Patty, Education Editor
November 3, 2006

RACISM against Jewish and Muslim children is rising in Sydney schools and taking on disturbing new manifestations, according to a study.

The study, based on interviews with teachers from three public schools in Sydney’s south and western suburbs, says Judeophobia and Islamophobia are becoming more prevalent.

Anti-Semitic incidents reported in schools in the St George, Chester Hill and Parramatta areas included swastika drawings on desks and comments from Muslim children that “Hitler did the right thing” by killing Jews, the study says. A board game on how to capture Israel, including pictures of missiles, is also in circulation, it says.

From the Melbourne Times:

Protesters put hard word on Fitzroy pub
By MARIKA DOBBIN

More than 150 punks, skinheads, feminists and other protesters picketed a Fitzroy hotel on Saturday to condemn a recent neo-Nazi concert at the pub.

Tensions were high when the protesters entered the Birmingham Hotel to demand that publican Gary, who wouldn’t give his surname, answer questions about the gig and join other Smith Street traders by putting an anti-racism sticker in his window.
