White supremacist collapses in court
November 02, 2006WHITE supremacist Jack Van Tongeren has been taken to hospital after collapsing in a Perth court today.
Mr Van Tongeren was due in the District Court of Western Australia to face charges of conspiracy.
However, he collapsed soon after entering the court from the cells and appeared to be shaking.
Court security staff called for an ambulance and he was taken from the court room in a wheelchair with his feet shackled about 10 minutes later.
His lawyer Geoff Vickridge criticised the delay.
“I am concerned at the delay in him getting medical attention,” Mr Vickridge said outside the court.
“Court security overrode any medical concerns for Mr van Tongeren.”
