War criminal to face extradition hearing

September 12, 2006ACCUSED war criminal Charles Zentai must face an extradition hearing over his alleged involvement in the fatal beating of a teenage Jew in 1944, the Federal Court of Australia has ruled.
Mr Zentai, 84, today lost a court challenge to the authority of magistrates to hear the matter.
The retired mental health nurse, whom family members say is in failing health, was not present in court today.

Jaydon Russell Borland, 31, of Taranaki – who has the words “Nazi” and “skin” tattooed above each eye – smirked from the dock and made hand signals to a skinhead friend yesterday in Lower Hutt District Court.

Five youths ‘planned racist shooting’
Five youths were overheard saying they planned to “shoot niggers in the park” shortly before two Aboriginal teenagers were shot with an air rifle, a central Queensland court has been told.
Hayden John Nitz, Shane Matthew McPherson, Troy Keith Zornig, Scott Henry Warwick-Day, and Timothy John Perry, all aged 17, appeared in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday for a committal hearing into charges including grievous bodily harm and unlawful wounding.

Invercargill man stabbed
5/9/06INVERCARGILL police are looking for two male skinheads after a man was stabbed in the hand outside a Yarrow St address on Sunday night.
Detective sergeant Mark McCloy said the incident happened about 10.30pm with the victim suffering a stab wound to his left hand.
The knife attack happened outside the victim’s house but it was unclear why it had happened. It did not appear to be racially motivated, he said.
Police were interested in sightings of two male caucasian skinheads, both aged in their 20s, wearing dark clothing.
They were travelling in a lowered, light coloured XD or XE Falcon, he said.
The car had been seen leaving the driveway of the Eastern Hawkes Rugby Club on Lithgow St.

Mr Soliman yesterday said a number of leads were being pursued into last Thursday’s vandalism attack at Mr Soliman’s home - the first known attack at a private residence of an Islamic leader in Victoria.

Taunts may be illegal
ANTI-semitic abuse reported at Melbourne universities recently could be illegal under Victoria’s racial and religious hatred laws, says the Equal Opportunity Commission Victoria.
Heightened tensions over Middle East events were no excuse, said commission chief executive Helen Szoke. Dr Szoke said verbal and physical abuse and threats against Jewish students were intolerable and could amount to racial vilification.
Since the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, students have been spat on, pushed over, threatened, been grabbed by the throat and sworn at, student groups claim.

The white stuff
White supremacist Jack van Tongeren is writing to journalists and asking that they stop calling him a white supremacist.
In a letter to The West’s veteran court reporter Roy Gibson from inside Hakea prison, the white supremacist described himself as a political prisoner.
Proving he can do a nice line in pathos, the white supremacist wrote:
“As the winter sun shines down on this cruel insult to civilisation, this pit of evil, I trust that all is well with you.”
The white supremacist said he was making a request for honesty in reporting. “I am not a ‘white supremacist’ … I am an Anzac in the true Aussie sense of the word,” he wrote.
So we’ll call him former white supremacist in future.
A wee storm is erupting within the Liberal Party over some Young Liberal shenanigans (within the Melbourne Uni Liberal Club, to be precise)

Lib is facing fresh scandals
THE Young Liberal embroiled in a Big Brother-style sex scandal is being investigated over alleged racist and anti-semitic slurs.
Brendan Rowswell, media officer for Indi MP Sophie Mirabella, was investigated last month by party bosses over claims he “nuzzled” his head into a female colleague’s chest.
Mr Rowswell is now facing claims of an alleged “racist slur” in a photograph caption in Right Angles, a magazine he edited. He also is fighting claims he launched into an anti-semitic rant against a Jewish colleague. Muslim leaders want Prime Minister John Howard to investigate the claim over the magazine.
