Mosque attack seen as misguided
13/4/06The Geraldton Muslim community in mid-west Western Australia believes a graffiti attack on the city’s mosque is due to people with the wrong idea about their religion.
Earlier this week, vandals spray painted Nazi symbols on the walls of the mosque, which generally has between 50 to 60 people for Friday prayers.
Assistant Imam Daftie Qudus says some people do not understand that Muslims here believe in keeping politics and religion separate.
“It’s completely different, it’s very wrong to put religion into politics to start with and we’ve always been in line with that, so I think the ones that are causing the problem are the ones that have a problem,” he said.
