JVT and Billings caught

Police have found white supremacist Jack Van Tongeren and his co-accused Matthew Billing in bush south of Perth.

Both men were due to stand trial in the Perth District Court last month on a charge of conspiring to firebomb Asian restaurants but failed to show up after disappearing weeks earlier.

The men have been arrested at Boddington south of Perth and are being interviewed by police.

WHITE supremacist Jack van Tongeren, accused of plotting to firebomb four Chinese restaurants in 2004, has been arrested with another co-accused after six weeks on the run.
The ultra right-wing Australian Nationalist Movement (ANM) leader and ANM member, Matthew Billing, skipped bail on February 20.

The pair, and a third co-accused, John van Blitterswyk, had been due to face trial in Perth on March 20 for allegedly plotting to firebomb four Chinese restaurants in 2004.

Police arrested van Tongeren and Billing in the Boddington region, southeast of Perth, about 7.20pm (AWST) last night.

The arrests, by the State Security Investigation Group, Gang Crime Squad and Tactical Response Group, with assistance from Peel District Police, followed a protracted search for the pair.

“The arrest is a pleasing outcome for police and a suitable conclusion to what has been a long and intense investigation, with strong support from, and excellent teamwork by members of numerous sections of the WA Police,” Senior Sergeant Ray Butler said in a statement.

He said a firearm had been located in a vehicle and inquiries were continuing in relation to that matter.

All three men have denied the conspiracy to firebomb restaurants in Perth between June 1 and July 16, 2004.

At present, it is unclear as to whether Jack was wearing his old skool LL Cool J hat when arrested this time around.
