I am the Ku Klux Klan and we will destroy you

Robert Anthony Morgan began stalking a Rockhampton psychologist after losing a court case.

The 57-year-old sent threatening letters to Dr Alan Keen claiming he was from the Ku Klux Klan.

One of the letters even contained a portion of white powder.

Yesterday he pleaded guilty to a charge of stalking in Rockhampton Magistrates Court and was placed on a three-year restraining order.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Darrell Dalton told the court Morgan sent Dr Keen the first threatening letter on September 3 last year.

The letter warned Dr Keen ‘the Klan’ would come after him.

When a letter with similar handwriting arrived two weeks later Dr Keen handed it straight over to Rockhampton police without opening it.

Upon opening it police found a portion of white powder inside which was later found to be baby powder.

The accompanying letter was once again signed by the KKK and warned him to help them or face the consequences.

“Your building won’t last much longer, the Klan will destroy you,’’ it read. When police eventually located Morgan in February he admitted to sending the letters but claimed the baby powder must have “fallen in’’.

Defence solicitor Robert Nauta said his client was extremely distressed after losing the court case. He said Morgan was not a violent man but simply didn’t know how else to deal with the situation.

“It was just his way of expressing his upset by the fact his daughter had been taken,’’ he said.

Magistrate Annette Hennessy ordered Morgan to have no contact with Keen for three years and placed him on an 18-month probation.
