Canadian born Macquarie University public law professor Drew Fraser put in another grandiose media appearance last night on Channel Nine’s A Current Affair program with Ray Martin. Fraser, who is due to retire in June of next year, waxed lyrical on subjects like the genetic inferiority of sub-Saharan Africans and claimed that he sees “virtually no white Australians” whenever he visits Westfields Parramatta.

Ray Martin: And now to the senior academic whose has gone public with the controversial issue of immigration, Andrew Fraser is associate professor of law at Sydney’s Macquarie University. He claims that bringing in black immigrants from Africa is a sure fire recipe for crime and violence and other social problems in Australia. He says that Asian immigration directly threatens ordinary Australians and their children. Macquarie University has issued a statement deploring racism but defending Professor Fraser’s right to express his opinions. Professor, Thanks for your time

Drew Fraser: Thank you.

Ray: Is the white Australia policy, is that what you want back?

Drew: Well I think it is a bit late to bring it back, I think it was a mistake to abolish it. I think we ought to, try to, minimise the cost of having done away with what was basically a good idea.

Ray: The White Australia policy was a good idea? Ok who do you want to keep out? The headline says Keep Them Out, who do you want to keep out?

Drew: It seems to me the basic goal of any immigration policy, if immigrants you must have, is to get people who are basically of the same ethnic stock of the people who are already present.

Ray: So Black Africans, or Asians… No?

Drew: I would say no, Yes

Ray: What is a typical Australian in your eyes?

Drew: It is the sun bronzed, blonde, blue eyed Aussie. That is what brought me down here. That is what, I would say, brought many people down here, the belief that what was really attractive about Australia, was that it was populated by Australians.

Ray: It is 20 million of us. Except that we’re not all blonde and blue eyed, we’re all colours.

Drew: I would suggest, if Australia turned into a country of 35 million people who are majority non white, it would be a much less attractive destination for migrants.

Ray: That is not going to happen. Where you live, and where we all live, is a multicultural society. We get on fine with each other. Why would you raise the spectre of crime?

Drew: It is not a matter of getting on fine, I would say that it is a matter of mutual indifference. Every time I go to Westfield Parramatta, well first of all, what I do notice there is the complete absence, well virtually of white Australians. What I do see is this polyglot mix of people who have nothing in common whatever, except the shopping experience. Do you want your Grandchildren to be part of an ethnic minority? Sub Saharan Africans have an average IQ of 70-75, that is a fact.

Ray: That is Adolf Hitler stuff. It’s just rubbish

Drew: No it is not

Ray: Why would you raise this racist line?

Drew: It is not racist, what it is racial realism. Could it possibly be the reason why blacks in Africa and elsewhere are notoriously unsuccessful is because they are cognitively challenged, compared to other more … more ….uh… other groups.

Ray: The same thing was said about Irish, and they were said about Italians, and they were said about Greeks, and they were said about the Vietnamese when the boat people came out, and they’ve been said forever about Aborigines, and it doesn’t happen. When they come here we actually work.

Drew: If you went to Cabramatta you would have to conclude, wouldn’t you that the Vietnamese are less integrated, less assimilated into the Australian community.

Ray: Professor like your university I respect your right to your opinion, I just disagree.

Drew: Thank you

Ray: Thanks for your time.

Drew: Fun to do battle with you.
